“It is a motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

A motel would be qualify better. The hotel is used more as a stop for workers. The carpet was dirty with (oil?)staines whice makes me wondering whether the hygiene is ok. The lady at the reception have not heard of the five finger lakes and can not give any ideas what to do/see. There is a pool in front of the hotel (and the street) but it does not give me any confidence to use it.

“This place is a dump”

The Ramada in Painted Post (Corning) NY is an old Holiday Inn. It has been renovated but is stil in a poor state of maintenance. Rooms are passible but smell from years of various uses. The halls and parking lot are stained and dirty. Security doors that require a pass key are unlocked. There is not breakfast service and the rates are high. There are many better places to stay in the area. I told the front desk that the tub drain was not working well and no one had done anything about it 3 days later. The "free" internet service was just barely working in my room.

“Don't book this hotel even if the price is low. Not worth it at all!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

My friend booked two rooms for 4 of us on Hotwire.com so the rooms were pre-paid through Hotwire and they were not refundable. We thought we got a good deal but they actually would give you a lower rate when you get there if they still have rooms available. But the worst thing is they double charged us. They still asked for our credit card info telling us they would just hold the info without charging us unless we stay longer or don't show. Through out our 3 day stay, we kept telling them our rooms were paid through Hotwire already and they kept telling us they won't charge us and the day we left, we talked to the owner again and he promised that he won't charge. 2 days later, we still see the charge showed up on our credit card statement..... They seem to not understand their deal with Hotwire, or they just want to charge you no matter what! You will need to call them again and again and they don't seem to know what they were doing except charging you!

On top of the charging problem, the hotel is DIRTY! There's no air conditioning outside of the rooms in any common area. The carpet in the hall way, on the stairs, in the lobby were all damp and dirty with marks everywhere. You have to turn your air conditioning in the room really cold to keep your room dry (and it's very loud). If you store the boxes that's holding the wines you purchased during your wine tasting trip in the room on the floor, you will be able to feel that the boxes are damp sitting on the carpet. The rooms are also filled with smoke and mold smell. There are also marks on the ceiling of water leaking and they actually also put buckets in the hall way catching water when it rains. The parking lot is very dark and the doors coming in from the parking lot were never locked.

The card keys they gave us never worked twice. For some reason, they kept resetting the keys and lock system. Every time we got out of our room, we can never come back without going back to the front desk and "fix" our card key again. Sometimes we even had to go back and forth 3 times because they said they fixed our card keys but they didn't. And of course, no apologize or any sorry look on their face at all.... This was very frustrating especially when you come back from your wine tasting trip holding cases of wines in your arms, feeling tired, and ready to go to sleep...

The bathroom was very small, the shower head, however, was huge, and the water pressure was strong. The shower curtain was hung too low and not wide enough, so there's no way you can keep the bathroom dry after taking a shower. We had to throw most of our towels on the floor to avoid a flooding situation. But the housekeeper did not restock our towels after cleaning the room (without dumping empty used cups and trash either), no restocking of toilet paper and liner for the ice bucket either. We went and found an housekeeper on our way to get ice and asked her for a ice bucket liner. She said they were out, and she gave us a garbage bag... :S

The hotel's website says free continental breakfast and wireless internet. The truth was there's no breakfast at all and the WiFi didn't work. There's 2 computers in the office if you still want to get online, but the mouse didn't work...

Anyway, DO NOT choose this hotel. It will ruin your trip!!!

Room Tip: If you book through Hotwire.com, make sure they don't double charge you!

“Front desk staff tried hard. Room was clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

We had been travelling home and just needed a place to stay, so we weren't too picky. The front desk guy was brand new and he tried really, really hard to make us happy. It was sweet. The girl who was training him was quite patient and friendly. The room was fine, the beds were clean. We picked up free wi-fi, but I am not sure if it was from the Ramada or another hotel. During our visit they seemed to be working on the outdoor pool, so it was completely shut down. There seemed to be a lot of construction worker men staying there, because the whole lot was full of white pickup trucks. But there weren't any problems with noise, everyone seemed to go to bed early. Overall, it was adequate and I slept like a baby!

“Horrible Management & Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

This hotel managed to put pending authorizations on my credit card totaling $6300 in a span of 1 week when my stay was only for 4 nights and I paid cash. Not only was my money tied up for over a week no one ever answered my question as to how this happened or followed up with phone call! I have been a manager for over 5 years and would never even imagine handling a customer incident in this fashion. Poor poor poor poor poor service!!!,
