The rooms are spacious, clean, well decorated with all the modern amenities (TV, fridge, french doors, balcony, etc). Our room, on the 2nd floor, had a view out to the west of the island. By walking around the side of the hotel we could get to the main pedestrian area overlooking the Caldera in 2 minutes. A good, clean, well run establishment.

All of these features were great but the thing I will never forget was the kindness and concern the owner, Lefteris, showed to my wife and me...

My wife needed to see a doctor with some urgency. I asked Lefteris if he knew of one. Immediately he walked me down the road to a local doctor. She was not in however. We went back up to the hotel and Lefteris called his wife to get a recommendation for another doctor. He phoned this second doctor and explained the situation (obviously, all in Greek). He got us an appointment right away. Without any discussion he took out his car, helped my wife into the back seat and drove us to the doctor's office. Lefteris waited and when we were finished he took us to the pharmacy to collect the prescription. When we got back to the hotel he offered us to change rooms, to have food brought up, basically, anything we needed. We felt completely looked after and cared for. Four-star treatment! Unfortunately, we had to return home early. Even though we had pre-booked, Lefteris didn't charge us for the remainder of the days and wished us well.

Admittedly, our situation was a bit extreme, but my view is this is the type of man Lefteris is - genuine, caring and upstanding. He is someone I would definitely give my business to again!

Hotel Loizos is a very central hotel in Fira and just a few minutes walk to the caldera edge and town centre.For a hotel in the 60-70 euro price bracket I would consider this good value for money and would happily return if returning to santorini.

Pick ups at airport and port were all carried out without fuss even despite our boat being very delayed on arrival.And very late changes to our dates were processed without a hitch or fuss.

We found this hotel to be good value for money with helpful members of staff and would recommend this to people wishing to stay in fira on a limited budget based on hotel prices generally within Fira town.

We agree entirely with all the other reviewers - Loizos is THE place to stay on Santorini! Budget price but great value for money. The location was fantastic as we were only a short walk from the clifftop caldera views, the supermarket was only around the corner and the bus terminal again was a 5 min walk away.

As others have said, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly which made all the difference to our stay as we felt very welcome. Yannis the driver took us to and from the airport and once when we bumped into him at the port, having come back from a trip, he offered us a lift back to the apartment as he was waiting to pick up some new arrivals. We thought that was so kind!

Irene was also more than helpful with information about where to go etc and always had time for a friendly word. The housekeeping staff were also very friendly and efficient, changing our towels every day and sheets every other day. The small kitchenette was adequate for making small meals, although we would suggest that a tin opener be provided as we had to go out and buy one!

Unless you particularly want to spend loads of money on a posh hotel with the views out of your window, I would definitely recommend staying at Loizos as it is more than adequate, on the doorstep of the caldera and you can spend the money you save on some good meals out! And there are some nice restaurants with a Caldera view that won't break the bank!

We stayed for 2 weeks, which is probably longer than most people stay, and the service was always of a high standard. We stayed in a standard twin room with no balcony but happily had our breakfast outside our room as tables & chairs were provided for each apartment. Also, although the pool area was small, there was another seating area at the front where you could sit on comfy chairs and watch the goings on in the little church square, see the donkeys coming down the hill at the end of the day or watch the passers by making their way to the caldera view.

We would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to some of our friends.

I visited the island for the first time, alone. I appreciated the pick-up service at the port...the front desk staff ..extremely friendly...the room was comfortable, clean...Location is near main bus stop...great caldera seaview is accessible just steps away from the property. I'll be back with family next time.
