Finikia's place in itself is in a good location about 2kms outside Oia, and there is a lovely coastal path to walk along to get into Oia. The rooms are adequate - typical of the island with a tradional cave-like feel and clean, all with exterior doors.
However, our welcome was cold and unfriendly and we felt that we were being a nuisance to the Owner/Manager who was more concerned with getting the paperwork sorted than showing us to our rooms and we were exhausted after an early morning flight. Granted his English wasn't too good but there was no smile and very negative body language.
Once in our room we discovered that if we used the pop-up plug then all the water from the basin ran straight down out of the waste pipe and on to the bathroom floor and round our feet - we reported this to the Owner who literally just shrugged his shoulders. So we washed under a running tap which reduced the leak for the rest of our stay there as nothing was done.
Breakfast is served in the rooftop restaurant which has spectacular views, but is the same every day and brought to you on a tray so there's no choice - tho the hard boiled eggs alternated with ham! However, it was enough and the Bulgarian manager of the restaurant was very hard-working and very helpful. We felt very concerned to hear that he was working a 10 to 12 hour and didn't get a day off, contrary to the terms in his contract.
Having said all of this, we would go back to Finikia's Place as the other options are in Oia and more expensive
