Used to to stay here A LOT in the 80's when times were good on both sides of the border. Hotel has had a major room reno job done. New carpet and furnishings...looked clean and smelled fresh! Trouble is with all the renos, that they must have stirred up all the mice in the walls as they scratched and ran all night long. The pool area also has been reno'd. Pool is refinished and a fresh coat of paint in the pool area made it look nice. Sorry to see that the sauna is gone now.
Breakfast was pitiful. The attendants were rude, and when asked questions, they would grunt and answer no to every question (did they speak English?). Not much healthy on this "free" buffet. It was carb city...white everything and danishes (how can you not have 1 whole wheat/multi grain product?). Waffles and syrup, standard fare. Healthy Items included apples, bananas, hard boiled eggs and make your own instant oatmeal. Of course there was milk and juice. Was not impressed with this meal AT ALL!
Check in and out was okay...relatively painless. Paid $49.95 for 2 queens. We stayed for an after Christmas shop so the room was just...well...the room. Nothing special, no great view. Would not recomend this hotel for anyone looking for higher end treatment.
Will I stay again, probably. You get what you pay for and this place is proof of this. Don't expect a lot.
