“My first bad review”

I expected a lot more for the price. It was shabby both inside and out. I had a smoking room that was tucked into a creepy alcove that was missing it's ceiling tiles. It looked like there used to be 2 queen beds and they just removed one leaving a large empty area. not cozy at all! It didn't even have a blow dryer, iron or coffee maker in the room. Pretty standard stuff for the price. Staff was pleasant. (Note, i checked off swimming pool but it was outdoors and covered).

“Never again! This was the worst hotel experience ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

The room wasn't much to look at, small, cramped, poor condition. The carpet seemed liked something you don't really want to step on in bare feet or even socks. The beds seemed clean enough, but my husband and teenage daughter experienced rashes and itching on their legs. We stayed 2 nights - in town for parent's weekend at local college. Second night was awful! A party of young adults was making a tremendous amount of noise ALL NIGHT and we could hear it all through paper thin walls. After walking over to wake up the desk clerk at 4 in the morning, she called their room and threatened to have the cops come. Nobody checked to see who belonged in that room. They continued to make noise and we got no sleep at all. At a cost of over $220 total for the two nights, I asked for a discount because of the awful experience we had. She refused and said all she could do was let us stay in the room a few hours extra! Very upsetting!! I said it was the worst hotel stay I've ever had and I would NEVER return. So BEWARE all you visitors to New Paltz!

“Dirty, disgusting and very overpriced!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

We were traveling home from vacation and decided to stop overnight. Pulled off Hwy 87 and followed signs for lodging. Found this hotel and stopped. Rooms were $159 per night (most expensive of our entire vacation) and the rooms were disgusting. The fridge and microwave didn't work, the beds were obviously very old and you could feel the springs in places, the sheets didn't look very white, the water in the bathroom was brownish, the furniture had seen better days and there was a funny smell throughout the room. I strongly suggest anyone wanting to stop here to keep on driving. There is a Super 8 motel just a few blocks away that I wish we had found first.

“Water Boarding is Less of a Torture”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2009

Nice front desk folks, the furniture seems to match, the room was clean, the continental breakfast was adequate, the bed (one of the most important features) was stone-like. Sleeping on the floor might have been the same experience. Please avoid this motel if a restful nights sleep is intended.
