“a perfect bed and breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2009

We have stayed in many wonderful bed and breakfasts over the years and this was, by far, the best one we've ever stayed at. Here is why:

--The rooms are HUGE, super clean.
--The beds feel as if you're sleeping on a cloud.
--As someone very much interested in design, I found the selections of furniture, antiques, linen choices, renovation choices, etc. beautiful and elegantly done. There is no "grandma's house" feel to this B&B (unless grandma has an elegant style).
--The pre-morning coffee/teas delivered to our room was something we looked forward to each day. It felt luxurious to take our time and drink a great cup of coffee in our room before breakfast.
--Like many reviewers have already mentioned, the three course breakfasts are out-of-this-world. Simply the best breakfast fare I've ever had at a B&B.
--The hosts, Sean and Patty, are amazingly sweet, helpful, comfortable and kind. They have a great sense of when to really chat it up with guests and then when to also provide privacy.
--We left an item behind in our room without even realizing it, and they actually mailed it to our home with a sweet note within days!
-- There's an excellent mix of reading material scattered throughout the house ranging from old, antique-y books, to history books, to classics, to books currently on the bestseller lists.

Overall, Maplestone was a dream of a stay and we highly, highly recommend it!

“Birthday Romantic Getaway”

I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday with a relaxing romantic getaway. Well, he couldn't have been happier. Eveything at the Maplestone Inn was perfect! I really can't say enough about this B&B, basically it is the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The renovated farm house is beautiful inside and out on wonderful scenic surroundings. The inside is so warm and welcoming and comfortable. What can be nicer than coming in on a cold day to a toasty fire, hot chocolate and just baked cookies. Sean and Patty are wonderful hosts! Everything you could possibly need is there for you. The Tucker room is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable unlike most B&Bs which have tiny rooms you can hardly walk around in. The breakfasts were amazing, 3 course gourmet delights! This is a B&B we will come back to for sure!

“Love and Romance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2009

If you are looking for a romantic getaway try the Tucker room at the Maplestone Inn. Upon arrival we were greeted by Sean who happily gave us the tour of this historic house and then led us to our beautiful and incredibly thought out room (Tucker room). The light fare supper was prepared by Patty with a flair for the artistic eye as each tempting taste brought us to smiles as we cuddled in front of the fireplace. Our room was warmed by the Vermont castings stove as we enjoyed the views from our double bath of the mountains and each other. Sean and Patty were incredible hosts and they also provided us with a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding areas. This is a must trip for couples who know what romance means.

“An Amazing Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2009

MapleStone Inn is even better than I expected. We stayed in the Hunter room, which is downstairs, and it was beautiful: spacious, clean, warm, and well-appointed. We couldn't hear any of the other guests, and we had windows in all directions, so the room was bathed in light--even on a cloudy day.

Unlike many B&Bs I've stayed at (including in New Paltz), the common areas at MapleStone are comfortable and welcoming. I spent time reading by the fire in one room, as well as snuggling into a leather chair in another. Sean and Patty are extremely solicitous about making sure guests have enough light, fire, tea, snacks, etc.

The breakfasts, as described in other reviews, are delicious and great fuel for a day outside.

Just as a side note: I had a bad cold when we arrived and spent the first full day at the inn, instead of hiking with my husband. No one wants to be sick on vacation, but I can't think of a better place to lay low than MapleStone. I was able to sleep all morning in my super-quiet room, then spend a peaceful afternoon in the common areas. If you end up having bad weather or just want to stay inside for some reason, you will love it here.

Stay at MapleStone! You won't regret it.

“Try Maplestone Inn and Forget the Mohonk Mountain House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2008

We pulled up to this wonderful inn after 9pm and it was beautifully lit up. The owner/operators, Patty and Sean, have done an incredible job of renovating the house and the rooms are tasteful and are larger in life than they appear on the website. Each morning, breakfast was a three course delight. We wish they offered lunch and dinner as well. Patty and Sean were great hosts, great people and we will definitely be back again and again. If you are going to go up to New Paltz for a night, a few days or a week, dont blow the money on the Mohonk Mountain House. That place is not even close to the quality and serenity you will find at the Maplestone Inn. B & E.
