“Our fourth trip and just as amazing as I rememebered”

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for a weekend of hiking and biking in the Gunks. This was our fourth stay and it was just as perfect as the first. The rooms are charming with wonderful Victorian details and furnishings. Breakfast is the best part of each visit and I recommend eating on the porch. Janet and Darryl are tremendous cooks and the special treats before the main course arrives are the best part. Homemade pies, jams, biscuits, muffins etc. Every bite is scrumptious. We tried the Parlor Room this time which as a 3/4 bath and queen sized bed. We've also stayed in the Tower Room which doesn't have a private bath but is fine for sleeping. All the other rooms upstairs do have private 1/2 baths so it's just a matter of walking down the hall to the bathroom - no real chance of running in to anyone! There used to be another room on the second floor with a full bath but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. As other reviewers noted, the location is in the middle of town which is great for walking to dinner.

“Charming B&B in the heart of New Paltz”

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this inn over Columbus Day weekend. Janet and Darryl are lovely hosts and and make all guests feel welcome. It was our first stay here and we loved our room (the balcony room) which has a private porch with rocking chairs. The room is a large queen with 1/2 bath (shared shower is next door). Location is superb - in the center of town with an easy walk to all restaurants, and an easy 10 minute drive to the Mohonk preserve for walks and hikes. As other reviewers have said - breakfast is a noteworthy plus here - Janet pulls out all the stops - homemade biscuits, kuchen and applesauce plus wonderful eggs, pancakes, and french toast. Lots of parking too and despite being right in town, noise levels are low which make for a peaceful sleep.

“Exactly what a B&B should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

We went for a weekend of hiking in the parks/preserves around New Paltz. Stayed at the The Inn for 1 night. Accomodations were very clean, pleasant, and well decorated (very traditional feel). The B&B is right in the middle of town, but secluced up a small hill 1 block from themain street - very convenient but away from the noise. Best part was breakfast... 3 courses and absolutely spectacular - Restaurant worthy, actually, no, it was better than breakfast at most restaurants. Hosts were courteous, friendly, but not clingy.

Only issue some people may have is there is only 1 room with its own bathroom (which we stayed in)

“...B&B atmosphere perfect...breakfast excellent!!!”

The Inn at the Orchard was just perfect. It is very secluded, yet very close to town. Two minute walk to Starbucks...great for coffee lovers. The house is beautiful and has a a very free, laid back feel. We stayed in 2 different rooms. Both were very comfortable. The breakfasts in the morning were super great and very gourmet. Eggs made to order with fresh fruit served first. Breads and cakes too. Juice and a few different freshly brewed coffees. Frig in the room was great to store our waters and leftovers from dinner in town. I felt like i knew Janet and Daryll very quickly. Very warm and full of advice. Beautiful classical music always in the backround. Parking was always available. I would certainly return to this lovely B&B . It is 2 minutes away from a wonderful pool with a very low fee.

“cozy, great location, with ups (and downs) of Victorian splendor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

The hosts, Janet and Daryl, were very friendly and obviously experienced: Janet had been head of hospitality at Mohonk Mountain House, and Daryl a chef there. So the breakfasts were super, and the rooms well-appointed and clean. Mattresses were comfortable and rooms very nice. Everything was in period and very pretty. The downsides, which were minor, had to do with the Victorian-era house. No private tubs/showers, except in one room, and Air Conditioning was somewhat sparse and weak--which was somewhat tough in a very hot July. Hosts can be a little hard to track down during the day, but their good nature far outweighs that.
