I booked at the H.I. in New Hartford,NY to be close to family in Utica,NY, I was concerned somewhat by the previous reviews, some good , some negative, I was very pleased and had a good stay there, it was very clean and well managed, no smoking odors, not noisy, very attractive restaurant in hotel, had breakfast threre, would like to be there on a snowy evening, Adirondack setting.
Front dest personnel, Shannon and Liza were extremely friendly and helpful, I learned some historical info from Shannon about the Utica area. I highly recommend it, breakfast was also good, nice selection.
only con , no elevators, which is unusual indeed

Easy check in/check-out, nice bedding, nice shower/bathroom. We had no fridge or microwave in the room. I just wish these Holiday Inns had some kind of continental breakfast, instead of the restaurant. It seems like when you pay that much you should at least get that! We didn't try any of the facilities, but it was a nice hotel & other than breakfast we had no complaints.

Clean rooms and hotel in general. Beware in winter rooms are not very well insulated especially around the windows and cold air blows right on in causing the heater to run constantly. Beds are very comfortable with nice pillows and linens. The restaurant is good but rather overpriced as is common with hotels. No free breakfast. Fitness center is one of the nicer ones with a weight machine in addition to treadmill and elliptical. With not many choices in the immediate area I would recommend this hotel.

I booked online (definitely did not select a smoking room), but was given a smoking room anyway. Management absolutely refused to move us to a non-smoking room; as sleeping in a smoking room was impossible for all three in our party, I had to walk away from a pre-paid room and find another hotel to sleep in for the night.
