My wife checked in ahead of me only to be given a very musty smelly room that has probably sustained water damage at some point in the Panoramic building. She was moved to another room next door which was much better smelling after persuading they said they were fully booked (there was a vacancy sign when I pulled up,albeit they probably had a few rooms per phone conversations we had previously) The room was a studio with a newly renovated bathroom and newly renovated outdoor covered deck. The air conditioner was not working and attempts to get prompt service were not possible the front desk said " I can't get the company here till tomorrow at the earliest" Not so bad since it turned out to be cool that night. The next morning I went outside and played with the AC "fuse" and what do you know I fixed the AC myself. I'm becoming quite the handyman in my middle years. The location is ocean front and there are lounge chairs and umbrellas that a crew of guys will bring out to the beach for you at your specified location-quite a nice service. Overall I had a nice time but if you do need something it usually takes the front desk 9 or 10 rings to pick up and it seems as though you are bothering them. One time they said "I just got here I'll look into it-we never heard back".The on site office employees certainly could benefit from a few customer service classes during the off season. The location is nice you can fish on the beach, burn fires at night on the beach or hit the pool from 9am to 6 pm. Kind of wish it was open at night.
The hotel is about 5 minute drive from town (not walking distance) and parking was convenient. There are BBq's located throughout the property as well as a nice small pavilion area near the indoor pool. There are even a few picnic tables on the sand. Great place for kids old enough for the ocean. Overall it was ok considering it was 283 dollars a night .Oh how could I have forgotten-housekeeping left a bucket of cleaning supplies right outside my door for 3 nights-just in case i needed to clean.

I just returned from 3 nights at the Wavecrest Resort in Montauk. This is our 4th summer returning to the Wavecrest. We really like the Wavecrest Resort. It is not super fancy, but it is very clean,updated and comfortable. We stay in the Beach Dune units. The beds were very comfortable, clean wtih new bed linens and comforters. It also had a small kitchenette with a refigerator, stove and microwave. The room has a nice size deck which directly overlooks the ocean. The view is absolutely breathtaking. The best part of this resort is the beach. It is such a beautiful and peaceful beach. The resort has complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas which they drive right down to the beach for you. If you are looking to relax with on a beautiful beach, with nice accomodations this is the place for you!

Was reluctant to pay the price of this dilapidated hotel, but wanted one more night on the island. Unfortunately they had one room left. This hotel is in desperate need of updating. The view is certainly great, but the structure needs TLC. The people staying beneath us were drunk and singing at the top of their lungs until the cops were called and stopped them at 11:30 p.m. At 6:30 a.m. the people above us let their 3 toddlers run and stomp on the floor from 6:30 a.m. until we finally checked out at 10:15 a.m. When we asked them to please be considerate, they stated "they weren't doing anything but eating their breakfast." All-in all, you'd be better off elsewhere. My wallet is over $300 lighter and it was a MISERABLE night! You'd be better served in Southampton!!!

Location of this resort is optimal and views are lovely. Complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas are provided and the staff that brings them to the beach is helpful and friendly.
Rooms vary greatly although the cost is the same so you can be lucky (with a new updated room) or unlucky as I was with stain and uneven bulge in the carpet in my unit.
There was only one front desk person who understood the concept of customer service. Debra was helpful, courteous and kind. I experienced quite the opposite upon checking in when 2 individuals were on the phone, looked up to see me but did not acknowledge my presence (or others who subsequently came in during my wait at the desk of 3-4 minutes). A visitor to our resort (who was staying elsewhere) also encountered similar rude behavior when asking for a one day pass for his windshield. Upon entering the office he stated, "Hello, how are you ladies doing this morning". He was met with a rude "what" in response rather than “How, can I help you?" or "We're fine, what can we do for you?" The other staff (poolside, lounge and umbrella as well as cleaning) was quite courteous and helpful.
The message from the 2 individuals I dealt with was that the customer is lucky to be there and they could care less whether you did or not. I am uncertain if these individuals own the resort which is why they behave this way but shame on me for giving them my money.
