“Panoramic View- Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

people found this review helpful

My wife and i decided we needed a long weekend away and decided on Montauk. We looked at a number of places and decided to try this hotel based on the excellent reviews here and on Yelp. We were not disappointed! The customer service was excellent, the room was amazing (clean, nicely decorated, and with a totally awesome view of the ocean) and the staff were professional and polite. We'll come back again and will tell our friends.

They have very good off season rates (we went in December) and it makes for a nice long weekend get-away from New York City.

Room Tip: Call and ask for a room with a great view of the ocean.

“Wedding Night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We booked here for our wedding, so that we could take pre-wedding photos conveniently down on the beach. It was very expensive for what it was, but it was the peak of the high season. You have to understand what you're paying for is location. The beach is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. The staff were sweet. It was great to have a fridge (for champagne and leftover cake) in the room and the iron came in handy for one of my bridesmaids. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Waking up to that view the day after our wedding was simply magical. I think the rooms vary quite a bit, but we were lucky - our room was quite photogenic.

Room Tip: Book early!

“121 miles from NYC, and worth a 2,000 mile trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Blessed with a screaming autumn blue sky all weekend my wife and I enjoyed a long weekend at Panoramic View this past Columbus Day weekend. Like most of us after getting to your room anywhere there's something that bugs you. The only fault I could find was not enough line on my surfcasting reel to make the surf from our balcony. The rooms are classic, clean, and uncluttered. Oversized windows offer breathtaking views, and the perfect angling of the resort allows the sound of crashing waves and a salty breeze to put the lightest of sleepers into a hybernation like sleep.

Plenty of fresh towels and clean beach chaises and umbrellas make a trip to the beach easier than walking a few steps to the ice machine. The staff aren't just working there, but a few live on the premises. We felt more like guests at someone's house than customers. Nightly bonfires and easy fishing gear storage at the beach were small perks that just added to the piece of heaven that's Panoramic View.

A short ride to town and the lighthouse offers an excuse to leave the property, but there's really no reason to. There's still some amazing fall weekends to make your getaway. Book it now and enjoy.

Room Tip: any of the rooms in the "Point of View" building offer stunning vantage points

“2 Bedroom cottage- The Sandpiper”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Just stayed at the Panoramic View for 2 nights with 4 of my friends for a girlfriends reunion. We stayed in the Sandpiper which has 2 Bedrooms (a King size bed in each), 2 Bathrooms, kitchen, deck, side patio with BBQ, Living area with a pullout sofa and a fireplace. The office staff (Kelly and Jessica) were wonderful. They couldn't have been more accomodating from booking the cottage over the phone through and including check-out. We asked for a late check out and were given an additional hour. The phone in the room can be used for calls which is quite helpful since phone service is extremely poor on most of the grounds. The kitchen is very small but usefull. The bathrooms are clean but the fixtures could use updating. Towels are large and abundant. Yuri, Ian and another gentleman were the grounds/maintenance crew who were also extremely gracious, available and helpful. Due to the long, steep walk from the parking area, they will assist you with your baggage by putting it in a pickup truck and driving down a VERY steep hill to your room. Yuri even stopped by our cottage before leaving for the night to see if we needed help with starting a fire. The view is spectacular and worth all the climbing. I would suggest if you have difficulty walking and/or climbing steps to possibly re-consider staying here. One of the downsides to the stay was a visit from a "furry friend" in the kitchen which does not sit well with 5 women. We only saw him once and made a point of mentioning it to Yuri who explained that the exterminator had been there recently and was working on it. It did make the stay a bit un-nerving when it was supposed to be calming and relaxing. Overall I would recommend this hotel for everyone who wants a beautiful view of the ocean unless you have a problem with walking and/or stairs.

Room Tip: The Sandpiper cottage was clean, roomy and had the most beautiful views from almost every room.

“Stunning views, private and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We've been back to Panoramic View about 3-4 times already this past summer. We've also stayed at Gurney's next door but prefer Panoramic as the place seems a little more up to date than Gurney's and also more private/quiet. Our only quibble is that there is no restaurant on site so you have to go out, which actually isn't a problem for us because we much prefer that.

ROOMS: The rooms in Valley View have an absolutely stunning view of the ocean. You're perched on a hill so the view from high up is just amazing once you walk in the door. There are no curtains (or very light curtains) though so you kinda wake up when the sun rises. It's a couple minutes trek down to the beach from here - fine going down but tiring coming up. It's the same for all the other rooms anyway since the entire property is on a hill. We also stayed at Point of View once. View wasn't as stunning as it was lower down and had a sideways view of the ocean. But there was a separate living and bedroom area, much more spacious and the bedroom area didn't get direct sunlight, so we could sleep in.

BEACH: private beach, very quiet, not as busy and crowded as Gurney's. There are umbrellas and chairs which they help you setup. This is probably not a kid-friendly place as all there is to do is chill out. But that's what we like. You can always walk over to the beach bar at Gurney's if you want a drink/snack.

POOL: this is outdoors overlooking the beach. Kinda small pool but nice to chill out in the cabanas.

This is our favorite spot to stay in when we come to the Hamptons. It's a beautiful spot, love the private beach, and the staff here are really friendly and helpful too.

Room Tip: Point of View room #86 has a separate living and bedroom area. Good space. Valley View midlevel an...
