While the location can't be beat I think the management of this property needs to fine tune quite a few things. We rented three rooms and two were lovely; one was in the "cottage" and looked like an afterthought. You can't do much about the size and ceiling heights of rooms that were built that many years ago but bland white walls, white linens (mediocre, not high end) and basically no decor did nothing to help the room. Dinner that night at the restaurant was a joke. The waiter was pleasant but not very professional and the food was OK, nothing great. Service at the bar was OK but the same cocktail ordered by two different people, served by the same bartender, came in two completely different glasses. The pool was out of towels in the middle of the day and the lifeguard kept saying someone would bring more. This never happened despite at least ten people asking for towels. Couldn't she have called someone? All in all the Montauk Yacht Club has the makings of a great resort but falls very short, especially for in season prices.
Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with the outdoor deck and the chaise that face the marina.
