We have come here in the past, but skipped a few years. Now in the courtyard areas there are long,bolted down, banquet like tables -where apparently groups of people are always hanging out- all day & it can get rather noisy. They are no longer able to grill in that area, but the partying and beer drinking is all day. I guess, it's fine if you want to go with a group and not have to go anywhere, but it appears to be the primary clientel.
There are kids running all over and the lifeguard at the pool did not appear to be interested when these youngsters went diving in and out. i was watching more kids out of the corner of my eye than he apparently was. The pool area now has a few canopies - otherwise there are no umbrellas or shade anywhere. You have to bring your own beach chairs & umbrella & towel, if you want to lie on the sand and it is a steep climb, carrying all the gear.
there are no hair dryers in the rooms and when i called the front desk, they said there was one there i could use, so I went there and I had to use it right there outside the lobby. The maintenance guy had to unplug the ice machine so I could plug in the hair dryer.
Oh, BTW, the ice machine refill at around 20 minute intervals, so you may have to wait and go back or they will try to sell you a bag. Just wait.
It was Ok - glass slider didn't lock well and the air conditioners have this "sleep mode" feature which I don't know if for the guests or the a/c itself. i goes off after a while. i guess it might be an energy saving feature , so people don't leave there rooms with the a/c blasting.
Get the water view and the east side is more comfortable on the balconey in the PM., not as much direct hot sun.
More reasonably priced than some of the other motels and the walk to town is perfect.

We have stayed here a few times over the years. It is right on the ocean and has a wonderful cafe for breakfast and lunch. The pool area is nice and maintained. It is a good family place. The only thing that needs improvement are the rooms they are old and the beds are like sleeping on a board. The rates are high during the summer like all the places in Montauk. They should remodel the rooms with new beds. I was disappointed with our stay this time.

We just got back from our 6th year of going to AT. We always enjoyed the family atmoshere, kids running, playing ball, families hanging out. They now built obnoxious "tables" in the courtyard so children can no longer run. The children were no longer able to play any type of ball in the courtyard. We got reprimanded for singing "Happy Birthday" to my son at 9:30pm. The managers stalked us every moment we were outside our rooms. I understand not to be too loud at certain times, but we certainly were not that loud. We will no longer be going there for our family vacations. For the price, they should update the rooms, fix all the cracks in the bathrooms and a new coat of paint. We will be finding a new place to vacation where we get more for our money. They just lost at least 3 loyal families. NO LONGER FOR FAMILIES WHO WANT TO HAVE FUN!

My wife loves this place for it's close proximity to town. The Motel is kept meticulously clean and the pool is heated and maintained daily. They have a cafe for small orders or breakfast and the usual burger. Not cheap but a brisk service was observed on the rainy weekend we went. My heartburn is with a simple thing that most I dont even think about is the horrible modified balcony railings . The rails have been modified for what appears to meet a safety code. When seated on a balcony facing the beautiful ocean and pool all you see is railings.
When you go down to the pool deck the rails block the view of the ocean. The rails have been there for years. so maybe I am the only one that sees this as an issue. The rooms all have two burner efficiency stoves with a small refrigerator. I suggest that each room have a microwave and toaster. With economic conditions the way they are it is really just a stretch to pay for the room go out and have a dinner with 4 or 5 people and the cost gets prohibitive. The court yard layout draws families many utilize the courtyard to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The addition of 3 Weber grills to the barbecue pit would be welcomed. A lot to ask I guess, and if you dont go someone else will my wife says. Cant say a bad thing about the help and the condition of the grounds. Yes it is old and maybe the balcony's would not pass inspection now but I dont see them falling.
