The Ronjo is, unfortunately, a typical Montauk "resort"- and I use that term loosely.

It is a bare bones, somewhat smelly motel that hasn't been updated since the Carter Administration. Okay if you are with a group of rowdy teens, but not so good if you are a family looking for pleasant accomodations.

Unfortunately, most of the other motels on the ocean side of Montauk aren't much better. The big selling point for places like the Ronjo is that they are on the ocean. However, you can stay anywhere in Montauk and park in town and use the same beaches with no problems. There are several motels on the sound part of Montauk which are a lot nicer and are only a five minute drive away.

The manager and other staff are rude and unhelpful. The rooms are dirty and rundown. There are so many other hotel/motels which are 30-40% less expensive and much nicer. We decided not to stay demanded our money back. Instead of a refund, my card was charged TWICE and I am still battling to get back $500!!!!

Ronjo Motel is old, everything is breaking down, disgusting dust is everywhereeeee!!!!!! So upset I had to spend the night here with my family...The owner had an attitude! I was afraid of bed bugs !!!! I kept on checking the mattress ughhhhhh Please dont waste ur money!!!!!

The hotel was older and rundown, but the owners do their best to accomodate you. We were travelling with a group of 11, mostly teenagers and the location and cost of RonJo is ideal. In the heart of the quaint shops and just steps to the beach and local stores. They just repainted the pool and our kids had a total blast playing ping pong, shuffleboard and swimming both in the pool and nearby beach. As I said, the rooms are old, but for the money, location and experience...we would stay again. ALSO< If you catch any seafood on your trip...you MUST bring your fresh catch to Wok & Roll, just a block from the hotel, they will prepare it 10 different ways for you on a per pound basis...our stipped sea bass done General T'sao style was out of this world!!!!
