“VERY NICE INN”

We stayed at the Ocean Resort Inn, Sunday, Sept 18th one night getaway! Small place only 17 rooms. We really found this place by accident and we are so glad we did. We stayed in ROOM #8, Suite with two bathrooms, with a Jacuzzi tub!!! What a plus!!, we didn't expect that. The manager Sebastian, was very professional and accommodating. His warm, friendly manner is what really sold us on this place. The next morning when we went across the street to the beach, we realized what a great location this place really is!! You can walk to almost anywhere, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the the village of Montauk. GREAT LOCATION, IMPECCABLY CLEAN ROOMS, FRIENDLY STAFF!!! WE WILL BE BACK!

“A nice trip”

My husband and I went to Montauk, where we have been many times in the past, for our first "vacation" with our one year-old son. This was our first time to Ocean Resort Inn, I called and made a reservation in May for our trip in August. I spoke with Ginny, who was very accommodating and helpful in booking a room that was appropriate for my family. She emailed me once she recieved my deposit check so I knew we were all set. We found the ORI to be fine, got there around 5:30PM after a long drive and Ginny had called to let me know that our key would be taped to the office door and also gave me her mobile number in case we needed to reach her.

Our room was fine, from the description I was given for two rooms, living room and bedroom, would actually be two separate rooms with a door which would have been perfect for us. But it was actually was, at one point, two smaller hotel rooms that had been made into one larger room so we did not have the ability to put the baby to bed and close the door like we expected. That being said, it worked out find as we just left our room door ajar a bit and sat outside on the porch swing once the baby was in bed. There was also a picnic table right there so we had dinner outside but we were close enough to hear the baby.

It was nice to have beach towels, umbrellas and chairs available for free so we did not have to drag from home. The location is awesome, right across the street from the beach and beach entrance but still a block from the center of town so we could walk everywhere.

All rooms in Montauk in August are very expensive. For the money, I would recommend this hotel to couples without children but I think next year, when we go back to Montauk, we'll try a place where we can have some privacy from our son and with a pool.

“Best Birthday...in Montauk”

After a grueling five hour trip to Montauk (the LIRR stopped running in Bridgehampton)...we arrived in town and began looking for a place to spend the night. The first two hotels were overpriced, and did not seem to offer much. Then, we discovered the Ocean Resort Inn...the prices were fair, and when we mentioned we were celebrating my birthday - Ginny exchanged our keys for a fabulous room. We loved, loved, LOVED - Room #8!! I have always enjoyed celebrating my birthday in Montauk, but this stay was especially memorable...and we look forward to returning next year!!

“A Little Sun and A Smattering Of Verbal Abuse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

To be fair, I did not, and will not ever, stay at this Inn. And here is why:

I had spoken with the proprietor, Ginny, months prior to our reservation about some possible dates. When the time came to confirm, I was busy on a job and so my friend called to book it, which was done in her name.

Two days prior to traveling, my friend was busy, and asked me to call and inquire about the details of our late check-in. Upon speaking with Ginny, I was told that she would put the keys in an envelope and tape it to the office door. I thanked her and we hung up. But then, upon thinking, I became concerned. We were taking a bus three hours from home to this Inn. What if there was a problem and the key wasn't there? Of course I hoped this would not be the case, but I called back to ask if there was an emergency number that I could call in the event that there was a problem.

In response to this question, I received a two-minute tirade about how that would be her home number and she didn't want me calling her at midnight. I tried to explain that I had no intention of calling her at midnight, I just wanted to know where to call in the event there was a problem. To this I was told that she would leave a key for my friend only because that is who made the reservation. And then she hung up.

While the reservation may have been made in the name of my friend, 50% of the $330 per night rate was going to be paid by ME. I had never been anything but pleasant and respectful to this owner who spoke to me with such vitriol and indifference that I could not possibly justify supporting her business.

So sure, maybe it's a charming inn. Perhaps it is clean. It is definitely in close proximity to the beach, but I wouldn't recommend going there unless you like your accommodations with a smattering of verbal abuse.

“great place”

My sister and I were staying with friends at royal atlantic hotel and decided to stay an extra day. We were quoted an outragious price at Royal atlantic for the extra day so we went around the area and found ORI. Ginny was so accommodating and gave us a break on the room rate.
We felt like we were in a room in a house vs. a hotel room. We were given all kinds of toiletries and the grounds were immaculate and very quaint. We had a swing outside of our door that my sister sat and relaxed in and we enjoyed complimentary coffee.
Would definitly go back but I think I would go for a 2nd floor room to get a better view.
Also, there are umbrellas, boogie boards and towels you can borrow to take to the beach free of charge. We needed to borrow an umbrella(which we don't usually use) due to excessive sun that week.
Overall, we had a great stay, the front desk staff were wonderful and it felt like home away from home. (oh yeah, they have books you can read too. bring an old book with you to exchage). thank you for allowing my sister and I to extend our vacation at a reasonable rate.
