My husband and I went to Montauk, where we have been many times in the past, for our first "vacation" with our one year-old son. This was our first time to Ocean Resort Inn, I called and made a reservation in May for our trip in August. I spoke with Ginny, who was very accommodating and helpful in booking a room that was appropriate for my family. She emailed me once she recieved my deposit check so I knew we were all set. We found the ORI to be fine, got there around 5:30PM after a long drive and Ginny had called to let me know that our key would be taped to the office door and also gave me her mobile number in case we needed to reach her.
Our room was fine, from the description I was given for two rooms, living room and bedroom, would actually be two separate rooms with a door which would have been perfect for us. But it was actually was, at one point, two smaller hotel rooms that had been made into one larger room so we did not have the ability to put the baby to bed and close the door like we expected. That being said, it worked out find as we just left our room door ajar a bit and sat outside on the porch swing once the baby was in bed. There was also a picnic table right there so we had dinner outside but we were close enough to hear the baby.
It was nice to have beach towels, umbrellas and chairs available for free so we did not have to drag from home. The location is awesome, right across the street from the beach and beach entrance but still a block from the center of town so we could walk everywhere.
All rooms in Montauk in August are very expensive. For the money, I would recommend this hotel to couples without children but I think next year, when we go back to Montauk, we'll try a place where we can have some privacy from our son and with a pool.
