We had a nice room and the price was right for a spur of the moment getaway. There's also a nice swimming pool. However, the doors going into the rooms are very much like those you find on Port-A-Potties -- When you go into the room and turn the deadbolt it says "Occupied" on the outside. When you leave the room and close the door behind you it announces the room is "Vacant". I found this to be a serious security issue because this announces to the public-at-large whether or not someone is in the room (and, if you're in the room and just close the door but don't throw the deadbolt it still says "Vacant" on the outside) and is very inviting to criminals who want to steal from hotel/motel rooms. I brought this issue to the attention of the management and they brushed it off saying "We've never had a problem yet." I asked what happens if someone tries to break in and they said "you need the key". However, if someone sees the room is Vacant they don't need the key because each room has 2 doors...the other is a sliding glass door that can easily be forced open or broken. When my wife and I left the room one morning we decided we didn't want housekeeping to come in so I put out the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on the handle. Housekeeping saw the "VACANT" sign and disregarded the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign and entered our room regardless. We found the Do Not Disturb sign hanging on the doorknob inside our room upon our return. Also, to anyone who might be afraid of dogs....the owners let their large bulldog roam the lobby off a leash. There's a sign as you go in saying "Don't bring pets into the office"....I suspect so that theirs won't entangle with yours. While this was otherwise a nice place to stay, and I would have rated this higher otherwise, I like to feel that I'm staying somewhere safe while on vacation.

First off, all of our rooms have solid metal doors with locking handles and deadbolts on the inside for added security. Only 6 rooms out of our 32 have sliding glass doors on the opposite wall and all of them have a locking mechanism. Those rooms are our most popular rooms on the property. When you leave the room for the day the door locks automatically like most motel rooms. We have a relatively small motel and as the owner and manager of the property I am on the premises pretty much 24/7 and constantly monitor the area. Our maids do not go in the rooms if you keep the "do not disturb" sign on the door. As for our dog, it is a Boxer not a Bulldog and is extremely friendly with all guests and have families that take pictures with her on a daily basis. If someone is scared of dogs we keep her behind the desk while they register. My wife and I have owned the property for three years now and have never had a complaint about security and safety on our property. If someone does have a legitimate concern about security we always take it seriously and will do whatever we can to accomodate our guests.
