My husband and our four children stayed here over the July 4th weekend. It was the only hotel with vacancy for a last minute booking. Arriving, we were amazed at the meticulous landscaping and excellent condition of the exterior. Inside was just as delightful and for clean freaks like me, a relief. Upon check in we were overcharged for our room twice, but it was adjusted without hiccup. The owners were friendly and showed us to our room. We stayed in the two bedroom suite it was impeccably clean and well maintained. The playground for the kids is fantastic and the pools were awesome. Everything is well maintained and cared for- I can't say it enough because it's such a rare find.
Our problem with the place was the rules and that we simply felt watched. There are no juice boxes allowed in the refrigerator (you have a playground, a game room, but there's no juiceboxes allowed in the refrigerator? Bizarre.) There is a two adult to child ratio rule at the pool, and with four kids, simply impossible. What if my five year old is tired and wants to go inside? That means my other three children also must leave the pool grounds. I understand the purpose of the rule, but it's not practical. The groundskeeper (who barely spoke english) kept appearing and staring at us as though we were doing something wrong simply by BEING there. At 7:30pm he came to the pool area to tell us that the pool closes at 8pm and simply stood there until we left. On the first day, the hot tub was open, but we were told that children under 8 couldn't be in there. No problem, we are very easy going, rule abiding people, and I made my 5 year old get out. But the second day, the groundskeeper sat in front of it like a Buckingham palace guard and when my husband asked if he could go in, he was told that it was "closed". Overall I felt as though I was at my proverbial grandmother's house and I was going to get yelled at if I sat on the "good" sofa... It was not a relaxing environment at all, but really could have been be if we felt we were able to enjoy what we paid for. I'm sure that the groundskeeper only acts on the instructions of the owners and although I understand that they want to protect their investment and they work hard to keep it in excellent condition, it ruins the experience if you're not able to enjoy what you paid for.
The bottom line is that if you want the cleanest and best accommodations ever and you can also stand to adhere to strict rules and can relax even though you're being watched, then this is the place for you. But I don't think we'll be returning.
