“Beautiful B&B Host Offers Delicious Breakfast in a Fun City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

The Country Squire is a beautiful place to stay in Hudson, NY. It's walking distance (2 blocks) from the main street in Hudson, so we did not need our car the entire time we visited. The rooms are tastefully decorated and pleasing. I loved the claw-foot tub! Paul, the owner, was friendly and hospitable, makes a delicious breakfast and enjoys sharing tips about where to go/what to do in Hudson. This was a FABULOUS weekend get-away, even in January; there were art openings, movies, music, great restaurants and more.

“Great host, Nice Bed and Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Paul your host is very friendly and hospitable. He is the perfect Bed and Breakfast host. He is very happy with life in Hudson and will share good tips to enhance your enjoyment of this wonderful town. The actual house is attractive on the inside with nice details like pretty tiled fireplaces. The room was a good size with an adequete bed. The room was a bit cold but it was mid December. An electric heater was provided and needed. I would have liked a down comforter but I slept fine under the blanket provided after the heater was on for awhile. Breakfast was adequete. This house had good feng shui and I felt very at home at The Country Squire.

“Cool Country Air”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

During the intense heat of late July 2011 we sought refuge in the Catskills and found a refreshing welcome at The Country Squire. A pale green room furnished with charming antiques, and private bath, cooled by AC and drawn shades, served as our oasis for the weekend.
Paul's breakfasts are the secret of Hudson! The freshest local foods and homemade breads served in the loveliest room in the Inn - a dining space of bay window and warm hues with a stunning sideboard.
Yet it is Paul's personal touch and warm hospitality that made our weekend a perfect one.

“Perfect Accomodations”

My husband and I stayed for a fall weekend evening and the Country Squire is exactly what the best B & B's should be. The room was clean, simple, warm and charming. Like the rest of the house, it has all the modern amenities but still feels "homey" and comfortable. The living area has great prints and a bookshelf of local reading and plenty of room to relax. Breakfast the next morning was delicious coffee, fresh fruit and homemade baked goods and TERRIFIC conversation. Paul makes you feel like a friend who has just stopped by and he is so glad to welcome you in. I'd like him to set up shop in all the cities we visit!

Room Tip: We stayed in a queen with a patio that we didn't use due to cold weather: it's lovely, thoug...

“Splendid Hospitality”

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Country Squire. We appreciated the short walk from the train station, and we were warmly greeted by Paul as we approached. Our room, the rear queen with outside deck, featured a very comfortable bed, was bright with afternoon sun, and provided us with a cozy base for our exploration of Hudson. The home has wonderful features, reflected in the inlaid floors, impressive furniture (breakfast table!), and claw foot tubs which all contribute to a feeling of casual and simply stated elegance. Paul provided us with information on local events during our stay, was happy to help with any questions, and was a gracious and attentive host. Two nights wasn’t enough for us to enjoy all the shops and restaurants in town (two block walk to Warren Street where most attractions are located), and we look forward to someday returning to this excellent and affordable Inn. Thank you Paul!
