“Resort Quality Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

Five families including my own spent 3 nights and four days at the alpine osteria over Presidents week. Our group has travelled together and skiid at Belleayre for the past 2 years so we are familiar with the area. The Alpine Osteria was a high quality find and was perfect for us. We rented the entire place. It was very affordable and incredibly convenient to the mountain as well as Hunter where tubing is available. Because we rented all the rooms we had access to the common areas which are very comfortable and we used them all day and night. The Inn keeper, Scott, suggested we might want to bring traysof food with us from home given the size of our group. He heated the trays for us. Scott was very hospitable. He is used to catering to his guests. He built us fires and made wonderful breakfasts. We would certainly stay there again. One word of advice, really talk to Scott about your group because the rooms all all great but have nuiances to each (some rooms you must walk through to get to others or you have to enter the room from the outside, some are very large, others are smaller and more intimate). Don't surprise him. If you are open about your needs he will find a solution. He also has wonderful dinner recommendations. I give a big thumbs up to the Pine Hill Arms and the staff there. They handled our large roudy party like champions, the food was great and the bill was cheap!

“EXACTLY what it claims to be...and that's a GOOD thing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

We (my husband, our 3 kids and two of their friends) just got back from a two-night stay at the Alpine Osteria. I had researched the hotels in the area thoroughly, and we chose this B&B based on its proximity to Bellayre Mountain, and the mostly positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Things started out a little rocky, as we had to rent a van at the last minute to get up there from NJ and the vehicle did not have 4-wheel drive...needless to say, with only a thin layer of snow on the Inn's driveway, we could not make it up the small incline when we arrived! Scott, the "quirky" innkeeper one poster referred to, had us park in the lot adjacent to his place, which belongs to a Ski Shop....a minor inconvenience, but we had no choice. Anyway, it was dinner time when we got there, and dark out, but the Inn was candlelit, there was a fire going, and our first impression was a good one. Scott is very methodical about his check-in process, and showing guests around, how things work, timing of breakfast, etc...it might seem a bit much to some, but he is running this place himself, and has done so for 10 years, and this is what works for him. Once we got settled into our very clean and comfortable two-room + sitting room set-up, he was very helpful with all our requests...dinner reservations, lift tix at a discount, etc. He recommended the Pine Hill Arms Restaurant, and it was GREAT...def. eat there if you go to Bellayre!!!! Best burgers we've ever had. Unfortunately, we chose the wrong fork in the road while going back to the B & B at around 10:00 at night, and wound up on a remote road stuck in a snow bank in our crappy rental van! So my husband called Scott who immediately took care of the situation for us, sent the local tow truck guy, and we were rescued...AAA, no charge.
I'll echo what most have said here about the breakfasts...they were simple, but plentiful...beautiful presentation, hearty and delicious, and great coffee...love that! We have stayed at many ski area motels that include breakfast, and have walked into a dining room with cereal boxes lined up and cold mini muffins sitting on a tray...it was great to know we were NOT waking up to a breakfast like that! It was a great way to start the day.
One more thing...if you have kids that are video gamers, as we do, Scott has a very retro collection of video games on his tv in the sitting area of the dining room...so now my son is addicted to both Pole Position and Pac Man, both of which Scott is an expert at.

We would def. stay at the Alpine Osteria again. If "quirky" is what it takes to keep this place well-run, immaculate, comfortable and convenient, then I guess we like quirky!!

“Beware of owners' quirky behavior”

I called, reserved a room for same day. Even though it was mid-week and was 2 hrs away, I was asked for a deposit to hold the room. OK.
Shortly after reserving, I was called by the owner, and asked if I could arrive 2 hrs later than planned. I accommodated his request.

Upon arrival, I asked to see the room, and was denied. I had to pay $375 up front. Obviously, not customary, and unhappy with this arrangement, I left.

The owner followed me out to my car in the parking lot, and threatened to charge me a cancellation fee, which he did. I found out later that he called other innkeepers in the area, after I left. Bizarro behavior.

“Location can't be beat!”

I rated cleanliness a 4 because there was a gross scummy residue on the surface of the bathwater after I turned on the jets in the Tuscan Red room. It was a nice, super deep tub though and the jets were strong, good after a hard days skiing. Scott is so friendly, and gives great recommendations for dinner. He also gives great discounts for military and public servants. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and do not underestimate theconvenience of the location of this hotel. It's right at the base of Bellayre Mountain, no hotel is closer. And it's one of the only places where you can get cell service. I would definitely stay here again, and I recommend it for a convenient and comfortable stay.

“Picturesque, hospitable, clean and confortable ski lodge in the vacinity of the ski slopes.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2010

Couldn't have asked for a better host during our stay.Scott was so welcoming and hospitable. The room was immaculately clean and the 2 shower head shower was so relaxing and refreshing after a hard days skiing. The location of the ski lodge could not be better as it is situated right at the bottom of the mountain. There is nothing that Scott would not do for us.What a great stay we had and we will hopefully be back some time in the near future.
