We stayed at Stonegate B&B in Highland most recently in late November, as we have done many times over about 10 years of visiting friends and family in the mid-Hudson area. As always, our room was nicely furnished in appropriately antique furniture, but with an extremely comfortable, contemporary queen bed and private shower bath. Everything was very clean and in good condition. Ample towels, pillows, excellent linen & bedding are standard procedure there and a hallmark of the hosts' attention to detail. There are just four guest rooms, which vary in size and features. The rooms have individual climate control and good WIFI.
Breakfast at Stonegate has always been exceptional, typically including such choices as baked egg dishes, blueberry pancakes, muffins and breads fresh from the oven, fresh fruit, and almost anything you might reasonably want. My vegetarian spouse is never disappointed with her choices.
The hosts, Jane and Neil Thomas, will accommodate special requests whenever possible. Common areas downstairs include a handsome sitting room and a dining room adequate to accommodate a full house at one sitting, if needed. Rates are moderate. The clientele seems to include many guests who have been coming back for repeated visits for years. We tried various motels and other B&Bs in the area in our early years of visiting the region, but no longer feel a need to look elsewhere. We always stay there when passing through the area, and recommend Stonegate highly.
