The Samaya Bali was a fantastic, memorable experience from beginning to end. Upon arrival at The Samaya we were presented with a beautiful flower neck garland and transferred the few feet to our villa on board one of the complexe's many golf buggies.
As we walked into our villa our breath was taken away by the fantastically built and presented accomodation that we were going to be staying in, we also found out that we werre the first guests to stay in our newly built villa which perfect as it was our honeymoon. The villas are extremely plush and have a mansion feel to them. As we walked through our villa we first came to a TV room with a sofa that could easily be used as a bed. In the next section there was a four poster super king sized bed, surrounded with crisp white bed linen and beautifully draped netting (there was also another tv in this room) In the next part of the villa there was a long wide corridor that contained the toilet, shower room, jaccuzi bath (which had been filled with rose petals of yellow with a red heart) next was two sinks one for a lady and one for a gent. In the middle of these sinks was a door to an outside shower. To put the size of the toilet room, shower room and outside shower room into perspective, you could easily fit a single bed with room to walk around in each!!! The outer area of the villa did not fail to impress either. With an ample decking area containing pull out comfortable loungers. A swimming pool that was big/long enough to swim lengths and then at the far end was a cannopied decking area that had another large sofa on (also big enough to lay out on)
We were shown round the villa by our 'butler' who was very welcoming and helpful. In the fridge as it was our honeymoon we had been given a honeymoon cake and a bottle of champagne. This was presented to us by our butler who then confirmed that the contents of the fridge, (which contained cans of pop, juice, water, bar of chocolate, fresh milk etc) would be changed on a daily basis and were complimentary. We were then informed that on a daily basis an afternoon tea would be served between 3 and 5pm, this was also complimentary and we could have this wherever we wanted (In our villa, by the pool, in the restaurant etc) The menu of drinks for this afternoon tea was extensive and ranged from simple teas and coffees to Iced coffee, hot chocolate, cold chocolate and wonderful lattes. We then got to have a small sandwich and little cakes. One of us has to have gluten free food and they accomodated for this perfectly. All of these added daily extras were a real special touch, especially as we were only staying on a bed and breakfast basis.
After about 10 minutes of arriving at the villas we recieved a call from the general manager, Ray Clarke, welcoming us to the resort. We were very impressed by this and Ray showed that he was really interested in the quests he had staying at The Samaya.
On our first evening we went to the villas own restaurant called ' Breezes' we enjoyed a fantastic meal all whilst over looking the ocean. The cocktails were truely sublime!!!! especially the berryoska!!!!!! This resort looks fantastic in the day time but the evening creates such a romantic feel, exactly the mood we wanted for our honeymoon.
At breakfast on our first morning we were greeted by the very cheerful staff and made to feel that nothing was too much trouble for them. They accomodated our need for a Gluten free meal perfectly and even went as far as to buy in further gluten free products to enable variation in the meals. Ray was also there every morning to greet the guests and we truely felt from that very first day that we were part of The Samaya family. we were also given a daily laundry allocation that we thought was a fantastic idea and truly welcome extra to the hotels fantastic service. All the items we sent to laundry came back beautifully washed and pressed.
We had been given a complimentary 30min massage that they were happy to accomodate us having together in the same room. When we booked into this we decided to book a couples spa experience as well. This was absolutely fantastic and well worth the money we paid. We were so refreshed following a 2:30hr spa which involved a foot ritual, 1hr massage, coffee body scrub, milk jaccuzi bath, ginger tea to drink and to finish off a facial. We then book me in for a hair spa which was a extremely luxurious experience (1:45hr of hair treatment, head massage, hand and arm massage and hair dried to finish off)
One of the things that made The Samaya even more special was the butler service, they were absolutely fantastic, genuinely interested in how you were and only to happy to help in making your experience a memorable one.
We decied one evening to have our meal in our room and the service was just perfect and as usual the food was A class.
On our final night at The Samaya we had dinner in the 'Breezes' retaurant again (Perfect food and service as ever!!!) and then when we told them that we were getting picked up for our transfer before breakfast in the morning they offered us in room dining and took our order there and then. We were leaving the villas at 6:30am and they prepared breakfast for us for 5:30am!!! This was a wonderful parting gift from The Samaya.
You have to experience The Samaya it is truely amazing and we want to thank all the staff, especially the two butlers that looked after us during our stay and of course Ray Clark who runs The Samaya perfectly. We hope to return to The Samaya one day soon as it is an experience that we definitely want to have again.
We stayed in the beach front villas, which were close to the 'Breezes' restaurant and were a...
