“What a great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

I have stayed all over Wildwood Crest for many years and have always seen Acacia but never thought to stay there since we kept coming back to our usual motels. Being ours was totally booked I looked on tripadvisor and saw the many reviews of Acacia. I have to say we were very suprised. After a horrible stay at a neighboring hotel, we were scared to give this one a try. I will say that I will definately be back. We stayed on the 4th floor and we had a great side view of the ocean. It is situated on a quiet side street and all the rooms with a the exception of a few are side ocean. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. we had a suite and it was more than enough room and the seperate bedroom was located in the back of the room which was a plus for sleeping. I was afraid it would be noisy but once you closed your doors you hear nothing outside which is great for sleeping. The restaurant next door was exceptionally good and very well priced. I would say the only negatives I could say about this place is the pool. It is very tiny and is on the side of the building with not much sun exposure and room for maybe 8 lounging chairs. It is not a lounging type of pool but the oceanfront location more than makes up for it. If you want to sun there are 2 sunning decks located a floor above. The parking spaces are very tight and if you park underneath in the lot it is very hard to get out of if you have an oversized car like we had. The final negative is the toilet seats. Very old, pitted and worn out from either cleaning products or use. Again, minor negative. I would most definatley stay here again and hope management stays on top of things because this could be a new favorite for us in the Crest.

“Would definitely stay again!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Stayed at Acacia with my husband and two children, ages 10 & 13. We were very pleased with the location. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Great view of the ocean and very convenient. We had a great time and would definitely stay again!

“An unexpected vacation find”

I'll be honest - we reserved a room only because it was the only thing listed as available on Expedia when we booked so late in the season (late May)! However, despite the high price (the rooms were close to $300 a night), we were delighted with our stay.

We didn't experience any problems with the room while there over a long weekend, so we didn't interact much with the staff. However, check-in and check-out was a fairly relaxed affair, and the parking area is generous.

The pool is not large but it is wonderful, facing the beach. The motel is right next to a pier walking out onto the sand, and down at the quiet end of the Crest, almost to the Cape May drawbridge. This location is only a five minute drive from either the Wildwood boardwalk or Cape May. From the hotel it's easy to walk down to the wildlife refuge on the beach. You can see dolphins swimming not far off shore in the early mornings. Meals are no problem because the adjacent hotel has a grill that opens at 7 am and serves all day, and also rents beach umbrellas for half of what the stand on the beach charges (you just have to carry it down and plant it yourself).

We were in Room 103 which faced the beach and was on the ground floor, and the location couldn't be beat. We faced the ocean with our own porch area and deck chairs that we shared just with the two adjacent rooms. The plumbing was loud, as it always seems to be in these places, but we couldn't hear our neighbors. The room had a full-sized fridge, TV, armoire, desk, table, and a kitchenette with a stove range and microwave. Your own personal recycling bin is provided - very handy for all those bottles and cans! No hair dryer or iron, so bring your own if you don't want to have to check those out from the front desk, and no alarm clock or clock radio, so I'd suggest bringing an iPod dock for both music and an alarm.

We'd definitely stay here again, although perhaps not during peak season when it's most expensive.

“Great trip!”

This was our first visit to Wildwood NJ. We have always gone to Ocean City MD but opted for a more laid back family friendly place for our first family trip with our 2yr old. The beach was great and the hotel had a small but very cute pool overlooking the beach. Our room was clean and we had a great oceanfront private balcony-although with the fog we really only saw the ocean for one night...My only complaints about this hotel would be that the there was only one elevator that is situated ont he other side of the hotel from where our oceanfront room was. And since it is set up like a motel the walkways to our room were actually other room's decks. So we had to wheel our cart past 10 rooms where peopel were outside and had to move for us to get by. Also the set up of the room we did not like. The balcony which was nice that it was inthe common area but it then put the private bedroom as the entrance. So if someone was sleeping, no one else could leave. Overall the motel was great and the people were great but the whole set up was just not pleasant.

“Good Beachfront Property in Quiet Part of Crest”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

We enjoyed our stay at the Acacia, the front desk care about their guests, rooms are spacious and location is great.

Good
Rooms - Size is larger than any WW hotel we've stayed for the past 40 years. Each room decor is unique as most are condo owned and rented. Kitchens in each room with full fridge.
Location - Ideal, beachfront with the Beach Grill at the next property over. Plenty of parking with spaces large enough to prevent door dings. Patios allow for guests to meet and greet at either side of the hotel.

Need Improvement
Grounds - While the staff is great, I didn't see one person sweeping the hallways or spraying down the concrete, as you would in many properties rated high on this site.
Vaccuming - Would like to see a maid staff use the nozel and vaccum the corners in the rooms. Found a lot of debris in the corners, etc. bobby pins, food crumbs, etc. Not a big deal, but would go a long way in keeping the bugs away.

Would I return? Absolutely

Not specific to this hotel, but I have noticed that smokers outnumber non-smokers in WW, and it causes a tremendous strain on families that are trying to have a nice vacation. Not sure why smokers are attracted to the WW hotel scene, but, it's made our family start looking at other options from a vacation town perspective. I never thought I'd say this, but it's getting worse.
