We keep coming back here, really love the hotel. It's a little pricier than I'd like but it's good to always know I'll be happy. The staff is so friendly and helpful, location is perfect...you can walk right to the craziness of Wildwood but aren't in the thick of it. Just wish they had some pet-friendly rooms available. Oh, the elevators are really slow, give yourself extra time at check out, it could be awhile.
This hotel is clean, and has a fantastic location at the "quiet" end of the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and courteous, and you just cannot beat the package deals (great prices plus a few free meals thrown in). Our room was also HUMONGOUS with two king sized beds.
The things that kept this review "average" were:
1) So many bus tours coming in and out! The busses were permitted to idle in the parking lot right in front of the rooms (we're talking 30 minutes of idling at a time, once an hour). So much noise and lots of diesel fumes meant that we couldn't even keep our balcony door open. The busses would also block your car in if you parked on the oceanfront side of the hotel.
2) The a/c is located in the living room area, so you must keep the bedroom door open at all times to cool it. On cool nights, we couldn't leave the windows open because there were large holes in the screens.
3) The balcony's are very narrow, so when you are sitting on the chairs, your knees can touch the railing, if you don't turn sideways.
4) The TV is located on the same wall as the couch! So, if you sit on the couch, you have to look over your shoulder and back to see it. And, we could only use one side of the couch because if we sat on the other side, we could not see the picture at all (because it's a flat-screen).
5) Housekeeping was apparently not happy that we did not want service every single day and kept our "do not disturb" sign up. We don't make messes, we had plenty of towels for two of us, and didn't need anything. One day we came back to the room to take a nap, and just as we drifted off, our phone rang. It was housekeeping asking if they could clean. I was pretty mad that the sign was not respected, and we were awoken from taking a nap on our vacation - something we never get to do at home!
6) The oceanfront rooms face the little archway located on the sidewalk. This has a speaker system in it that BLASTS advertisements once an hour from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on the weekends.
7) It's a little strange to get into this hotel with your luggage. If you want to use a luggage cart, you have to go down into the underground garage (no sidewalks, you have to walk down the narrow car ramp with cars coming up and down them). That is the only route you can take if you want to use a luggage cart because otherwise there are steps to get to the elevator and you can't roll the cart up the steps! We ended up carrying our luggage out when we left so we didn't have to deal with it.
So, it's a nice hotel, but the noise level is a big factor if you are going to the beach to relax. Honestly, we'll probably switch back to the Water's Edge next time... much more quiet and the hotel is set up better.
We've stayed at the Adventurer Inn each summer for well over 20 years. The hotel has changed a lot but it still remains a great place to stay.
The location is excellent, right next to the boardwalk so you can easily go back and forth and right next to the beach so you won't have to lug your beach chairs too far. The hotel has a large pool with a children's swim area which is nice for families. It also has a small arcade with an air hockey table so incase you do encounter a rainy day at least it'll give the kids something to do for awhile. They also have an exercise room and a small laundry room but the laundry room can get hectic if you wait late in the day to do your laundry. On the first floor of the hotel there is a nice restaurant especially if you want to grab a quick breakfast.
The few issues that I've had with the hotel are that the parking gets picked over rather fast. There may be a few small spaces open but for larger vehicles, parking can be difficult depending on the time of day. When you go to the desk to tell them that there is no parking available they usually just insist there is, so that can be frustrating. However, there are parking spots with meters next to the hotel if you really get desperate. Also the elevators in the hotel tend to be slow but according to the workers they are upgrading them over the winter season so hopefully that issue will be resolved.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel. I'm sure you'll have a great time if you stay here.
We just got back last week from a 3 day stay at The Adventurer and really enjoyed it ~ the room was so clean and we were really surprised at the size. Also with our views of the ocean from the balcony's from both our bedroom & main area. The heated pool was nice on the cloudy day we were there with an extra deck area with lounge chairs. Then there's also the access to the beach right in back of the Inn. Also access to the boardwalk was right next to the Inn.
The vouchers they give (w/their Pkgs.) for free Breakfast at their restaurant, which is open for Breakfast & Lunch and a free dinner voucher (from a few area restaurants to choose from) was also appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay here and would reccomend this Inn.
