This hotel is clean, and has a fantastic location at the "quiet" end of the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and courteous, and you just cannot beat the package deals (great prices plus a few free meals thrown in). Our room was also HUMONGOUS with two king sized beds.
The things that kept this review "average" were:
1) So many bus tours coming in and out! The busses were permitted to idle in the parking lot right in front of the rooms (we're talking 30 minutes of idling at a time, once an hour). So much noise and lots of diesel fumes meant that we couldn't even keep our balcony door open. The busses would also block your car in if you parked on the oceanfront side of the hotel.
2) The a/c is located in the living room area, so you must keep the bedroom door open at all times to cool it. On cool nights, we couldn't leave the windows open because there were large holes in the screens.
3) The balcony's are very narrow, so when you are sitting on the chairs, your knees can touch the railing, if you don't turn sideways.
4) The TV is located on the same wall as the couch! So, if you sit on the couch, you have to look over your shoulder and back to see it. And, we could only use one side of the couch because if we sat on the other side, we could not see the picture at all (because it's a flat-screen).
5) Housekeeping was apparently not happy that we did not want service every single day and kept our "do not disturb" sign up. We don't make messes, we had plenty of towels for two of us, and didn't need anything. One day we came back to the room to take a nap, and just as we drifted off, our phone rang. It was housekeeping asking if they could clean. I was pretty mad that the sign was not respected, and we were awoken from taking a nap on our vacation - something we never get to do at home!
6) The oceanfront rooms face the little archway located on the sidewalk. This has a speaker system in it that BLASTS advertisements once an hour from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on the weekends.
7) It's a little strange to get into this hotel with your luggage. If you want to use a luggage cart, you have to go down into the underground garage (no sidewalks, you have to walk down the narrow car ramp with cars coming up and down them). That is the only route you can take if you want to use a luggage cart because otherwise there are steps to get to the elevator and you can't roll the cart up the steps! We ended up carrying our luggage out when we left so we didn't have to deal with it.
So, it's a nice hotel, but the noise level is a big factor if you are going to the beach to relax. Honestly, we'll probably switch back to the Water's Edge next time... much more quiet and the hotel is set up better.
