I have stayed at the Crown Motel at least 6 times in last two years. I posted in 2003 that it was a nice place to stay, and it was. However, the last time my family and I stayed there in August 2004, we noticed the pool was looking very cruddy, GREEN! Didn't complain because we go for the easy access to the beach, not for the pool. Watched a man check in with his family, and threw a fit because the pool was green. Had 2 small kids, management would NOT give him back his money. He called the police, police came and management finally gave him back his money. After they left, I watched the owner pour bleach, yes, straight up BLEACH into the pool and sent maintenance or a housekeeper to get more. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS POOL! Needless to say, we will not be staying there again.

WHAT A DUMP Checkin there was a rude old man who only wanted my money,did'nt know anything else. Management not anywhere on site. rooms were terrible, had not been upgraded in 15-20 years. Small refridge did not work, old tv had no remote,sound dial broken so could not adjust. Tiles in bathroom broken & fallingoff the walls. NO MAID SERVICE BEDS REMAIND UNMADE. Had to chase after someone to get towels. FAIR WARNING STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

The title says it all. While Fran, the host of the hotel is very accomadating, the rooms leave alot to be desired, as well as the pool area and hot tub. The first room we were in had an AC from the 70's in it and when turned on it never got cold. The wall had massive amounts of water discoloration and the beds were very very low to the ground. The carpet was filthy.

When we asked for a different room, Fran moved us to a room which was much cleaner albeit very small in comparison to other hotels that we have stayed at. The TV was stuck in channel set mode all trip and there was no remote. We are not sure why we didn't get this room to begin with because the room chart behind the desk had this room not booked for the whole weekend.

The pool area left alot to be desired. The pool was not tiny but small in comparison to alot of the other oceanfront hotels and the hottub was tiny and unsupervised. Paint was peeling up in the pool. We witnessed kids from hotel next door coming over to use the hottub and noone said anything. Sundeck space was very very limited as was lounge chairs (in the sun) by the pool.

The one good thing is that if you want to stay on the beach, there are no roads to cross. Step off the hotel property and into the sand. This is very convenient. Price was lower than average which is why we tried it but won't stay there again, unless we bring our dog with us because the hotel is pet friendly.

Last weekend my brother and our families stayed at the Crown. There were 8 of us 4 adults and 4 children. We got 2 adjoining rooms one even had a twin burner stove. All children under 10 were free!!!
Our 3-night weekend was under $900.00 tax included and we were right on the beach. We already booked a Labor Day Special under $325.00 per room.
