“This is NOT a resort...”

This was the first time my husband, son and I went to Wildwood Crest and we thought we were going to stay in a resort hotel, as per its name. Well, this place is the farthest from a resort as it can get. The room is like a tiny little cave, the area where the beds are has just enough room for the beds, the TV is attached to the wall like in a hospital room and the dresser leaves just enough room for 1 person to pass at a time. The bathroom is so small that you have to be careful when you sit on the toilet to not bump into the sink! The tiles in the shower stall were peeling. The kitchen area had a microwave that was so dirty I was afraid to open it! The fridge had baked-on crud all down the side - you would think someone would clean that off!! We went into the restaurant for breakfast and left right away as we couldn't stand the smell of grease! The pool was ok, but I didn't go in it. The only positive feature is that this place is directly on the beach, but most of the motels are, so it's nothing special! DO NOT STAY HERE...IT"S NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

“bad and expensive motel in wildwood... disgusting pool”

the staff is unhelpful, nobody wants to help you when you go at the front desk to say that there is missing something in your kitchen. we paid more than 1000$ for this tiny room and there was no brush for washing dishes in our kitchen. the lady at the desk asked us to buy one on our own at the grocery... after arguing with her, she went in her room and took out a brand new brush...
same thing for the soap...

Fortunately, the beach was very nice, but please avoid going to this motel...

there is also a disgusting pizzeria in this motel. everyday, the owner of the pizzeria throws some pizza dough in the pool... and all birds jump in the pool
DISGUSTING!

Room Tip: all rooms on the big side of the

“Beach Vacation 2011”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

It was my family's first time in Wildwood Crest, N.J. and we loved it!!!!! The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach, which is very clean and not far from all main attractions! The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Rooms are kept very clean. The pool was lovely, clean and water was always nice. There is a pizzeria on the premises that makes food fresh to order and it is affordable. We will definitely return!!!!!!!

“What a rat hole, we're warning all our friends”

We read mixed reviews online before making our reservation, but as we were having trouble finding a last-minute reservation anywhere else, we decided to take our chances, since some of the reviews said the Coliseum was clean. We were very disappointed with the decrepit condition of our beach-front, top-floor, 2-bed efficiency accommodations. There were no drapes or curtains on any of the windows, so with the temperature in the 90's everyday, hot rays of sun just kept pouring in through the cheap blinds, so the place didn't feel cosy. The carpet was thin, gray, and dirty-looking. There there were plenty of clean towels in the bathroom, but the maid had somehow managed to insert a filthy face cloth in the pile. Right away it was evident, the entire place was badly in need of serious renovation. When my boyfriend attempted to open the bathroom window, the handle came off in his hand. The bedside table was jammed tightly and sideways between the beds in the small bedroom, so the drawers didn't open. Later, this became a problem when we tried to find the phone book to book another hotel, as we'd decided we couldn't spend another night of our long weekend there. The bedroom door handle left a hole in the wall each time it was opened, as there was no rubber padding on the wall. For the two nights there, we didn't get a good night's sleep as the beds were badly made with these very tiny sheets that kept slipping off; the pillows were like high and hard; the bedroom blinds didn't fully didn't cover the windows so light shone through the whole night; and the room ventilation was stuffy because the A/C unit was partially hidden behind the makeshift clothes rack they installed in front of it. We were constantly killing flies that were everywhere, and the couch looked nasty, so we spread towels on it. We spent most of the two days outside, but even so, our stay was uncomfortable and intolerable. We know for sure--NEVER, NEVER AGAIN will be stay there!

The positives are the beach-front location, though most hotels are no more than two short blocks from the beach, Also our unit was one of the two, top floor beach-front units that have a wide deck that gives the most privacy away from the rest of the guests.

Among the other negatives is that there are no restaurants within walking distance, so you have to catch the trolley or drive everywhere.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the 1st floor-faces the parking lot and lots of foot traffic; try to get the top...

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

After all the reviews I read on trip advisor I was sure this motel would be Great, however, it was below average for my liking.

The lady at the desk was very nice and pleasant. When I called to make a reservation she answered all my questions and could not of been nicer.

The disappointing part comes when we walked into our room. We were greeted by 20 flies. Even after killing them all, more seemed to visit looking for their relatives. I was so disgusted by that I didn't even cook the first night.

The bathroom was small, there is no place to put your shampoo, soap, etc when you are in the shower other then on the floor of the shower, or a tiny ledge. The sliding door to the bathroom was hard to close and very rusty. The shower curtain did not fully go across and needed to be replaced.

The kitchen has a very tiny sink and some of the cabinets had chunks of missing paint on them. The floor in the kitchen was dirty. I don't think it had been cleaned in weeks. My white socks were dirty after walking on it a few times. I took a wet wipe (because that was all I had) to clean and it was brown and dirty after one swipe.

The location is great, right on the beach. Parking is a tight squeeze.
