“its a DUMP!”

I booked this inn because it was so close to the High Point State Park. I would never EVER STAY THERE AGAIN! This place looks nice on the outside when ur pulling up, but as for the rooms, were talking something out of a horrow movie. Spiders in the room everywhere (killed 7 before my 2 day stay was up), bedding was something from a garage sale from the 1940's, so was the furniture and towels. The weather was in the 90's and the pool looked as if it had not been opned in years. This inn is also near NOTHING, you need to drive to town (Colesville to the south or Port Jervis to the north) just to get a cup of coffee or anything. There is nothing in walking distance you are in the boon docks. I hated this place would never recommend it to anyone and can't belive it is AAA approved, im writing to them next. Maybe it was AAA approved back in the 60's, but as for year 2010, I don't think AAA has made a visit there. STAY AWAY or just sleep in ur car. This plac e is in the middle of nowhere and the 2 towns it contects are not much either. Restaurants (about 4 of them) all close around 8 pm, there is nothing to do once the sun goes down.

Stayed June 2010, travelled as a couple

“With a little work, this place would shine..”

HPCI is not right on the interstate as many travelers seem to like nowadays... it's on the wrong side of HighPoint Mtn for that. The rooms are furnished in what I'd call garage sale bargains. The beds were comfortable (not garage sale stuff), but the pillows were the hardest I've ever slept on (the place need a woman's touch in the decor). The rooms were clean and fairly roomy. HPCI is relatively inexpensive if you're looking for accomodations around the Milford (PA), Pt Jervis (NY), Matamoras area and it is literally at the doorstep of High Point State park (it's back yard borders the park). The view from the hotel is NOT I-84, but rather a 50 mile view into NJ's rolling hills. If you want to be near the Walmart, MacDonald's, and Burger Kings.. stay elsewhere. We liked staying away from the hustle-bustle of the Interstate and town and enjoyed being so close to the mountain (you're on it!) and the small burg of Colesville (try Elias Cole's for breakfast... before 10:30) As another reviewer said, HPCI is a gem in the rough... It wouldn't take much to make this place stand out. The question is really whether the owner, with only 12 units, is willing to invest more in his place... as of now he's building stables and such on the back 70 acres of the property in hopes of attracting weekend riders to the mountain trails in the NJ Skylands park. For the $$, I'd stay here again.

“A nice area; property with potential”

Driving through the area, we needed a place to stop for the night. We noticed the property as we drove by, and when the place was recommended by a waitress in town, we decided to book a room. It served its purpose. The surroundings are beautiful. The room was outdated. The coffee creamer was bad, which seems trivial but it left me with a bad impression as we drove on the next morning.

“This is a joke”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2007

Tried to make a reservation using their email. No reply. Called and played phone tag several times. Made reservation and we were told she did not have time to answer email. Called later to add a day to the reservation. Played phone tag several times. Talked to individual and made change to reservation. We showed up after a 12 hour drive to be told there was no reservation and no room made up. This is a small motel in a rural area. The woman wasn't too coherent and finally her husband came. There was an infant in what was supposed to be the motel lobby. Obviously they were using this as part of their lving area. There was a picnic table on the patio which was to be used for registration. She was smoking and put the cigarette down in front of me. The husband cleaned and made up the room. The furniture was flea market finds with lots of furniture stuck here and there. We stayed one night and left for the Comfort Inn in Port Jervis for $2.00 less per night. Nice, quiet location - has wonderful potential.

  • Liked — location
  • Disliked — lack of professional hospitality.
