We stayed here a few weeks ago and it was one of the WORST experiences we've had at the shore! It started out badly with our first room, one the ground floor, which smelled like mold. We changed rooms immediately, and although room 2 (2nd fl) smelled better, the beds were HORRIBLE!! Springs in our backs, indentations from other sleepers made it impossible to not roll to the center, or off, which we would have been better off with since at least the floor was flat! I had a horrible back ache from the springs the next day, and was very tired from a bad night's sleep! We again changed rooms, to the 3rd fl., which was an inconvenience, again. I wish we'd just gone to a different motel, or home, though! The 3rd room was FILTHY!!! We discovered this after we'd showered and walked on the rug, then looked at our BLACK feet! We ended up wearing our flip flops the entire time in the room. AGAIN the beds were TERRIBLE, again springs in our backs (both beds) and this time there was some filth on the sheet I'd missed seeing. So, in the morning, we had the sheets changed - and they TOOK MY PERSONAL PILLOWCASE!!! It's not like it wasn't a stand out on the white sheets - a BLUE pillowcase - or they noticed there were too many pillows - but the kids couldn't be bothered to look/check. We left that night after complaining to the front desk to get it back - and they said it was in the laundry and wouldn't be done till the morning. Disgusted, we left and they said they'd mail it to us quickly. Yeah, right. It took a week and a half & 2 phone calls to get it back, and it smelled like cigarette smoke. YUCK! Speaking of smoking - almost everyone of the "guests" there smoked and they were allowed to by the pool, which we never used for that reason. Disgusting & unsafe!!! Plus, one of the "guests" they allowed in this dive - in the room next to ours, of course - had an ALL NIGHT PARTY in their room and on the sundeck!!! BUT there's NO NIGHT MANAGER to control that sort of thing!!! So around 3am we called the Police, who had their hands full with the bars, apparently. There are so many things wrong with this place, this is just scratching the surface. I don't know how anyone could give this place a good review. The only fun we had there was on the beach and at the water park! They say they have "suites" - sure. It's a kitchen (stove/oven) with no implements, all in one room. We tried to get a high room (top floor) to avoid noise - but the walls are so thin that we heard EVERYTHING everyone else did/said!!! The TV's are mounted on the ceiling - so you hear them, too. There's no excuse for having all the old/worn out/dirty & disgusting furnishings and rugs. We'll NEVER go back, and I wish I could get our money & time back from them!

This time there were 24 of us & once again we all loved the stay. The rooms were once again clean & very comfortable. The staff is efficeint & very friendly and generally great people.

We did have fantastic weather & enjoyed the pool every day.

My kids enjoyed it so much that the have asked a few times when we will go back. Unfortunately for them it won't be until next summer.

I just returned from a weekend (8/19-21) at the Sunrise and had a great weekend. I have stayed at the Sunrise numerous times over the past 15 years and have always been satisfied. It's nice to have a family motel without the typical antics of a young drinking crowd. (confession: I was one of those young drinking crowd over 30 years ago when a decent family wouldn't dare venture into Seaside, so nice it's emerged into a great family resort area. As to the negative reviews I have read, grow up!! It's a beach vacation area, not a New York Park Avenue hotel. Some negative comments might be true but that it because it's right by the beach. You know, water, sand!! I have spoken to many folks who have stayed in other motels and have seen some of them. They are envious when they see the Sunrise. The owners and staff are wonderful and do all they can to insure your satisfaction. So if you are expecting a New York City four star hotel, this isn't for you, Seaside Heights isn't for you. Please stay home, the Sunrise is always full and difficult at times to make a reservation on short notice so you might make it easier to get a room on short notice!! And if you are 21-22 and want to pile 8 or 10 of your buddies into a room for a drinking/party weekend this isn't for you either and I am glad. If you want a nice family place, 2 blocks from the beach and let your hair down and enjoy, then this is the best place with great owners!!

I originally started staying here due to the cleanliness and the value. The staff is wonderful, for the most part. General manager and housekeepers are wonderful... owner is terrific... nite manager sorely lacking. Went to see him about a problem with guests in adjoining rooms and he said there was nothing he could do... said I could call 911 if I was having a problem. In 3 years of staying here I've probably spent close to 5K and I can call the cops if I have a problem??? Are you kidding me??? Doesn't repeat business mean anything??? I am disgusted.
