“A regular business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

I stay here frequently on business trips to the area. The hotel is well laid out for a business traveller. There's no glamour here, the breakfast buffet is a fairly basic selection of cereals or hot food. The bar at night is good for the old reliables though I had a bad experience with a very dry and tasteless fish and chips. The rooms are clean and reasonably equipped and they are a good size. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a little off the beaten track but it works fine if you are planning to stay for a couple of nights and can manage to eat elsewhere.

“Reasonable rates, great room, excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

From check-in through breakfast, all the staff were helpful and courteous. The room was nicely appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel had called beforehand to say that the guaranteed room with two double beds was not available, but they offered us a much reduced rate and free internet to take a king with sofa bed. Upon check-in, the room with the double beds WAS available and they still honored the reduced rate. The only issue--directions to the hotel on their website aren't too helpful. If you're traveling Southbound on the Garden State Parkway, you would take a different exit than the one listed on their website (Exit 172 doesn't exist on the southbound side. If you miss the correct exit, then you end up going 10 more miles south before you can turn around plus 10 backtracking-miles north). When we called the hotel from the road, they didn't know what exit to use either. This key piece of information should be shown prominently on their website as most customers want to know which exit they should take off the Garden State. And they should note that southbound and northbound use different exits.

Room Tip: If you're traveling southbound to this hotel, use a mapping program before you leave home. Our...

“Botanical Spa Review (which is inside this hotel)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

The good points...the massage therapist was wonderful & I would definitely go back for her. Unfortunately the rest of my comments will not be so good... the spa receptionist was less than professional & actually turned off the lights in the room my friend and I were in because they were getting ready to close & rudely wanted us out. We were still waiting for our other 2 friends to finish their massage's, so I still do not know what the rush was-this is supposed to be a relaxing experience, right? The locker room or changing room is way too small & is shared with the I door pool area-so there are lots of loud wet kids coming in & out. They come into the small locket room in large groups because They offer some type of children swim lessons that we were not made aware of. The floor was extremely wet & slippery & 2 of my friends almost fell. The locker room area also needs a big face lift. The one at my YMCA is cleaner & the decor nicer.
Would love to take the massage therapists to an upscale spa where they belong!

“Poor and Unfriendly Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I travel a lot for work, and need a hotel that has a fitness center, is clean, and some decent dining.

The fitness center is pretty good for a small Marriott location. New cardio machines: 4 treadmills, 2 eliptical, and 2 bikes. Only complaint is the weight machines. They are outdated and unstable.

Rooms are fairly clean and spacious. But, the heater is very loud. No fridge, even though another review mentioned we needed to request.

It's in beautiful park-like location. But, quite far from most places. There's a shuttle that takes you within 2 mile radius.

Restaurants on-site is few, but good service. Bartenders are great at Sean O'Casey's. They have Happy Hour from 5-7, with some decent wines (which is rare).

Biggest complaint is the service. I asked for a late check-out and cab service when I leave. They booked me a cab one day before, and the cab driver threatened to make me pay for the 1-hour wait.
On my last day, I was working in the room. I was interrupted twice by cleaning crew, even though I requested late check-out.
I also asked for a feather bed, and they did not provide me with it.
The front desk has some incompetent people. They are unhelpful and unfriendly.

I highly recommend another hotel in the future.

“Typical business traveler hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Checked in at 12:30am after a late flight. It is about what you would expect from a Marriott - typical business traveler hotel. Nothing outstanding but nothing terrible either. It is tucked away in a nice wooded area. Not a bad place to stay.
