I've been staying at the North Shore Inn for the past decade and have never had anything less than a wonderful vacation. The rooms are kept very nicely, the owners and staff are accommodating, friendly and professional. Their location is one of the bet kept secrets on Long Beach Island ! I can say with certainty I have never seen a roach there! If you found your experience was less that Borebrush from San Diego, Calif then perhaps you were a bit loopy yourself and don't know where you actually stayed?!

We enjoyed our stay at the North Shore Inn. It is definitely nothing fancy, but the room was clean and pleasant, well-maintained by the cleaning staff, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I was alarmed to read the very negative review below but can assure people there were no roaches at this hotel - it is clean and well looked-after. We had a kitchenette in the room which was helpful for quick snacks, and plenty of great breakfast places nearby. Next time, I might choose a place to stay which has more pleasant outdoor space, but I didn't see many places like this in the area. It is relatively bare-bones, but again, a nice place to stay if you are going to be spending most of your time at the beautiful beaches nearby or eating out at the many restaurants around. I did find the beds to be too hard, however, which many people don't mind but this did not agree with my back very well.

i was warned not to stay here but i was out of options and wished i would have stayed on the main land and fought traffic to get back on the island. We noticed a lot of cock roaches and were forced to cut our trip short. We also noticed that the owner was smoking marijuana in the back off the office. His eyes were really red and the stench carried through the office.

My partner and I have stayed at the North Shore Inn for the past 6 years, always for one week in September. We have been very satisfied there because it is only one block from the beach and is close to a diner and Kubel's restaurant as well as the lighthouse and some fantastic scenery at the quiet end of Long Beach Island. We have stayed in both the standard rooms and the efficiencies and found both accomodations to be very clean and comfortable. The efficiencies are adequately equipped with refrigerator, microwave and stove top range and the TV has plenty of cable channels. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. Our only disappointment with the Inn is that for such a lovely location, the front windows only face out onto the driveway/court and the noise of guests driving in and out and talking in that area can be disturbing. Also, the windows in the back of the units do not really open much or have much of a view, so there is a slight claustrophobic, dark, stuffy feeling to the rooms (the front windows do not open at all and one must keep the drapes closed at all times because people can look in). Otherwise, this is the best place to stay at this end of the island in our opinion.
