“good and bad - but I would not return”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

The breakfast was great - the room was clean and comfortable.

However the inn is close to the road and lots of noisy road traffic - so sitting on the vernada is not so pleasant and the noise was audible from the room as well.

The Inn advertises wireless internet but it is spotty - works in some areas of the inn but not others - and on some devices not others. It did not work in our room or other public areas that were available all hours. It worked ok in the dining room but that was no always open.

One friendly innkeeper - one not so much.

Overall I would not stay here again.

“A definite maybe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

We stayed at the White Goose Inn for several days in May 2010, and thought it had both plusses and minuses. The room was spacious and the beds were reasonably comfortable, but our room did not have a closet or an armoire. The sink was in the bedroom, not the bath. The bathroom had the smallest shower compartment I've ever seen, too small for someone 6'2."

The website pictures of this B&B suggest a rustic setting, but the building sits only thirty feet from Route 10, the local north-south road that handles its share of car and truck traffic. Our room faced the road; anyone staying here would do well to ask for a room in back.

The breakfasts were tasty and well prepared, but guests were obliged to eat between 8 and 9. The innkeeper had the annoying habit of coming into the breakfast room while guests were eating, and starting lengthy conversations--as if he were a guest himself. I thought his behavior intrusive.

With taxes and all, this place cost us $150 a night and wasn't worth it. There are several small motels within a mile or two that charge about $80 a night; friends who stayed at them said they were quite satisfied.

“Lovely Inn north of Dartmouth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2007

This was our first visit- a one night stay before we dropped our son at summer camp. Room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast delicious. Renee Ivey, the owner, was friendly and helpful. She recommended a terrific place for dinner. Lovely gardens. Close proximity to Dartmouth too.

“Cute B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2007

This was my first time visiting the Hanover/Lyme area of New Hampshire, and my stay at the White Goose helped it to be a great one. My husband and I stayed in the Sky Blure room, which was small but very comfortable. We shared a bathroom, that was clean, yet the water smelled a little funny. The innkeepers were very accomadating and friendly. If we are ever in the area again, we'd definitly stay with the White Goose.
