I brought my family, which includes a teenager (and his friend), and an elementary-aged child to the resort. My husband and I, and our younger daughter, loved it. She enjoyed the water park very much, in particular. I do wish there was an option for half-day at the water park, or even by-the-hour. We got to the hotel after a long day of skiing, but it was expensive to pay for a full day at the water park to just use it for an hour or two. Parents (as spectators) are also charged, which I find excessive, since we were not swimming or using the water park in any way, other than to supervise our daughter. It would be nice to have a pool to use for registered guests who don't want to be in the water park as well.
We chose one of the loft rooms, which was great for the two older boys. We had plenty of space, and our room was much more up-to-date than some of the other reviews would have led us to believe. The beds were nice and firm, no sagging. The rooms well-heated.
We dined at Champeny's for an evening prime rib buffet, and a morning breakfast buffet. Both meals were good, but nothing extraordinary. A bit more money than I would have liked to have spent, but definitely reasonable.
One thing that this resort is sorely lacking is something for teenagers to do. Plenty for adults/families, and lots for younger kids, like the water park, the arcade, Wii tournament, games in the lounge, etc. And there's a bar area for adults. But there's nothing for teens to do, who are a little too old to be in the water park (which closes at 10 on the weekends), and too young for the bar. My son proclaimed it, "The most boring hotel ever!". A space for a teen nightclub area would be great. Music, dancing, a spot for them to hang out. The bonfire had the potential to be cool, but it was very small, and not true bonfire, really just a small campfire.
In all, I'd rate this hotel 4 stars. The service was great (the front desk brought towels and a corkscrew up within five minutes of a phone call). The room was great, and just what we needed. The food was good. The water park should have alternative pricing options. If there was a spot for teenagers, I would rate five stars. As it is, I don't think we will return, at least not with my son. We would try to find a resort that is more teen-friendly.
