We stayed at the Lancaster Motor Inn last night. This is the first time I have ever written one of these reviews, but if I can spare someone the experience I had, then it is well worth the few minutes of my time. First, the motel's website promises free wi-fi. What they do not disclose is that internet access is only available in the LOBBY, and the lobby is only open until 11 p.m. That is fine if you don't need internet access, but I had a deadline to make last night, and couldn't access the internet to send my files.
When we arrived at the room, there were two gruff looking men sitting on chairs smoking outside of our room. I nearly talked my husband out of leaving before we even went in the room. Too bad I didn't.
The room itself was dingy, and I did not see any evidence of a recent renovation. The entire room sloped to one end of the building - nothing was level, including the mattress, which sagged to one side.
The air conditioning was rigged up in one of the strangest configurations I have ever seen. It was mounted almost to the ceiling, and there was a light switch to turn it on. A note by the switch indicated that it was set to the highest setting, and that we should not try to adjust it ourselves. Not sure how we would have done that without a ladder anyway...
The room's lighting was so dim, it was difficult to read or see things in my bag without dragging things over to look directly under the light. The bathroom smelled so strongly of cologne, it nearly made me gag while I was brushing my teeth.
Overall, the room did not smell or look clean. It was a rough night's sleep, and I couldn't wait to leave.
We paid a rate of $69 for the night. It would have been well worth the extra $15 the other motel down the street charged to stay there. I deeply regret the choice to stay at the Lancaster Motor Inn.
My husband and I agreed that it is obvious that the motel's owner realizes that this property is beyond renovation, and is just milking the last few dollars out of it as the building crumbles.
When I asked the woman at the front desk the next morning to let the management know that I felt it is deceptive to advertise wi-fi access on the motel's website, and the reason it was a problem for me (I said it nicely, not in a mean way), she pulled out a piece of paper as though she was making a note. She ripped it apart the moment I put my hand on the door to leave.

Thank you very much and we welcome all constructive criticism, as it helps us get better. You will be happy to know that, as a result of guest feed back like yours, we have imlemented the following changes to the room you stayed in: put a better sign to guide the guest how to swith on the air condition, remove the dimmer from the room so the lights are always bright in the room, added two more lamps, implemented new policy to notify the management for a quick response to a problem, FREE WIFI sign changed and upgraded to get more coverage as possible. asked the housekeeping dept. to look for a different cleaning product with better smell. asked the maintenance to check in the sloping you mentioned and fix it if it there! We also just got our yearlyevaluation by AAA and got approved.
