Every year around Father's Day we stay at the Hillcrest. We have always had great stays! Of course it is an old building, but always clean and hotel guests are expected to have a great time, but within reason. We can enjoy our wine and beer on the front porch and watch all of the cars and people walk buy. Rowdy out of control parties are not allowed. This hotel has the best location on the beach, close to the playground, Blink's Fried dough and Mama Leone's is downstairs. It also has a pool that used to be heated, but this year it was not and was too cold. Very family friendly. Free parking close by is excellent. We always enjoy talking with the owner and this year we were greeted by someone new. We were told we could not check in until 3 but they held our luggage until our room was ready. We wondered what was going on, as the old owner always had our rooms ready to go when we arrived. The next day, the owner still was not back...we wondered what happened and we finally asked and were told the hotel is under new ownership. I think it would have been nice for the new owners to introduce themselves right away and let long time customers know that it is under new ownership. Maybe even provide an address so we can send a thank you and retirement card to the old owners...we will miss them!! It was kind of strange to have to ask. By the end of the weekend, we met the new owner, she was very nice. Rooms used to be cleaned as soon as we left for the beach. With new folks they get cleaned late afternoon probably because they own the hotel next door too. Rooms are still clean, beds and pillows very comfortable as usual. We will miss the old owners and wish them well. We wish the new owners all the best!
