The resort describes itself as "Classic Old Tahoe Charm". It is certainly a world away from the glitz of the State Line casinos. The units are probably 50 years old but have been well-maintained and are clean and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the nearby beaches and hikes along the lake shore. The property borders US 50 and there is a lot of traffic noise during the day but we were unaware of any at night. The units are set around a nice lawn (used for weddings) in a grove of old pines. Be prepared to park in tight spaces by your unit.
A buddy and i frequently head to Tahoe at least once a year. One year we paid a pretty penny for a rental home. The place was nice but for the amount of time that we were actually in the house it didn't work out. Last year my buddy was kind of bummed about the place we were staying in his only good words were that it's very close to Zephyr Cove. When we checked in I immediately fell for the place. Listen when you're in the middle class and on vacation you need a place where you can clean up and sleep. The unit I rented can easily sleep 5, has a kitchenette, fridge, dish sink etc. It's not Koeller or GE type stuff but just what you need to get by. If you're spending enough time ion your hotel to notice the type of appliances you missed it. This place is nice, decently located and you can't beat the price, Oh its pet friendly.
Last month for 3 days and 2 nights we had the pleasure of staying at Zephyr Cove's Pine Cone Resort. We had a blast. The tone was set upon our arrival where we were greeted by the most lovely of staff who were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Also outstanding was the suite-type rooms at Pine Cone Resort - spacious with an appliance-laden kitchen. Great because we didn't want to eat out for every meal. Less than a 5 minute drive were two beaches with easy access to the lake. This was the best vaction we had in a long time, so much better than a room at the casino. We will definitely be back next summer.
A friend and I with out 3 dogs (2 crazy Border Collies and 1 normal Aussie) came to S. Lake Tahoe for a long week-end of rest and relaxation. The only way for us to do that was to wear out the dogs first. The Pine Cone Resort couldn't have been any better place to stay. It's old fashioned charm was wonderful, it is quiet and all doors lead to the outside. So the dogs had easy access to trees and such. Close to S. Lake Tahoe and creeks and hiking trails around the lake Also, within a mile or two of Zephyr Cove which has it's own dog beach. The owner, Robert could not have been any nicer to all of us, even the dogs. The prices are very reasonable and I (and Boomer,Mandy & Molly) would highly recommend the Pine Cone Resort to anyone traveling with their dogs and we can't wait to go back. SOON!!!
