“Once beautiful, but still pricey, suite looking worse for wear taken care of by responsive staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We are Vegas regulars who don't smoke, drink or gamble. The room we stay in is important to us because it is 'rest and relax' central. Our suite was beautiful at first glance. 2 TVs, really good sized living area with andining table and chairs. The bathroom is huge and lovely. However, the suite had a list of annoyances that required reporting, i.e., light on the vanity mirror didn't work, in-room copy/fax machine had a paper jam that couldnt be undone, pens that were out of ink, and one of the remote controls needed a new battery.
At this point it was easier to report than ask for a different room, since we had unpacked.
All of the reported problemswere fixed within hours of our reporting them, except the pen! But since we were paying just under the retail for a suite we felt like we were having to work in maintenance for hotel for free to get them to provide us with value for the money.
And, there's more...two upholstery buttons were missing from the couch in spots where their absence was obvious and cheapened the look of the furniture and the room. And there were obvious cracks in the granite around the tub. We didn't report these because we were done helping management run their hotel.
Also, while we were watching a movie our screen froze. Turns out the entire movie system had crashed. Again the hotel response was quick, but of no help since the problem came from their provider. The fix took more than an hour, which did mess up our plans for the rest of the evening. Given the list of 'issues' the Venetian had 'gifted' us with we think they should have at least comp'd us a movie.
We had the room for 4 nights and our room was not ever cleaned before 4 pm. This did nothing to enhance our experience of being in a formerly high class hotel.
To sum it up, there is little or no value to paying the going rate for a FORMERLY high class hotel, no matter how responsive the staff
may be. Still worth a try but dont pay retail, inspect
your room before unpacking, and bring your own pen.

“Bachelor/Bachelorette - His and Hers Reviews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Hubby and I stayed separately at Venetian (a week apart) for a bachelor/bachelorette trip.

Her Review:

Stayed in the Venetian Towers (whatever the separate area is). Check in was very accommodating, and gave the group of us connecting rooms, which was great for a group of girls needing to share clothes, makeup, and bathroom space! We felt very safe with multiple security people checking for our room key to make sure we were guests, but it wasn't invasive. There is a more 'quiet pool', which was nice to access. Of course, the primary pool was more loud and sun chairs were quickly occupied. Tao Beach had a fun party atmosphere, but the pool itself in there is the size of a postage stamp! Rooms were spacious (again, travelling with a group of girls- needed the space!), bathrooms gorgeous and well lit. Spent a night at Tao nightclub with bottle service - one of the best party atmospheres on the strip, but the dancefloor can be packed to the point of discomfort. Crazy long lineups (1-1.5 hour wait) unless you had a special VIP pass. Continental breakfast was a nice touch - tip - carry it back to your room, since it's usually smaller things like youghurt, croissants....lot of families, so it can be a wee bit embarrassing wearing the clothes from the night before...Walgreens is right there for snacks and drinks for the room. All in all, great experience, would go back, location is great. Only minor issue is because the resort is so huge it can take 15mins from the time you leave your room just to get to the lobby...let alone outside the resort...

His Review:

I'll try not to be repetitive of what was posted under "Hers:"

We stayed in one of the Towers. This entire property is beautiful and well-maintained, with a lot of polished marble in the lobby and casino areas. Everything is very clean.

Our room (for 3) was spacious and quite opulent. The queen-bed was very comfy, and the bathroom was spacious.

The main pool area was nice, though we did not venture into the "private party" area.

I love the location, but I prefer to stay in north-Strip properties as I know where are the little "secrets" are. As some of the guys on this trip were on a budget, we took advantage of the food courts beside the casino and beside the Grand Canal Shops (great for window shopping and more). Also, a short walk outside takes you to a "golden arches," a drug store for mix and munchies, and a liquor store in the Fashion Mall. We took advantage of the bus stop just outside the Fashion Mall to go to the outlet mall in the city.

I didn't care for the service at all. The front desk clerk seemed to be stifling a smirk the whole time I did business there, seeming to humor one of the "plebes" that was being indulged by staying at their hotel.

When I go to Vegas to gamble, in order I prefer sports book, slots, tables. As we were there in August, all I had in the sports book was baseball and pre-season NFL (neither of which were appealing) and the ever-present horses, so I never used their book. However, I was disappointed with the non-existent comped drink service in the slots era where we played; in fact, we quickly said "-- this" and went to Harrah's, because the drink service there was exponentially better.

I'd stay here again because of the luxury and location, but not to hang around.

“Beautiful Themed Hotel for that ‘Special’ Vegas Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Check-in/Reception
Although the check-in Reception is huge and there was a long queue, we got served very quickly. The Gentleman at Check-in was most friendly and helpful. Much to our surprise we were allocated an upgraded room. We were given a map of the Hotel which we found quite confusing and got lost on our way to the room. Fortunately there were staff located in the corridors as security that were able to point us in the right direction. They soon recognised us and didn’t insist that we showed our keycard for the entire stay each time we entered the tower lifts to our room.
Directions to the rooms were not very clearly signposted, but signs were much clearer throughout the casino and shopping area. The scale of the Hotel is huge and was quite overwhelming at first. We certainly did a lot of walking during our stay!

Accommodation
Our upgraded room was in the new Tower part of the hotel on 10th floor. Our room overlooked the strip with impressive views of the mountains and surrounding area. The suite was elegantly decorated, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The lounge area was pleasant and comfortable with a nice selection of furniture. The beds were extremely comfortable and linen was changed regularly. The bathroom was beautifully furnished with plenty of lighting. The only thing we felt was missing was tea/coffee making facilities as we really fancied waking up to a cup of tea before getting dressed and venturing out to find somewhere for breakfast.
Apparently Wi-fi was available but we couldn’t connect to it, despite following directions on the information in the room. Unfortunately this is a separate compulsory charge that we were not aware of but had to pay when we checked out. Had we known about the charge we would have insisted we got advise on using Wi-fi.

Location
The Venetian is situated almost at the end of the strip, however there are new hotels being built so it may be more centrally located within time. There are some big Hotels within easy walking distance such as The Mirage, Caesar’s Palace etc.

Food
We did feel there was a lack of choice in restaurants for breakfast and went to Denny’s situated just past the next hotel most days. There were plenty of restaurants for main meals but they were quite pricey. The meals we did have were very nice but being America the portion sizes were huge (more than enough for 3 people).

Entertainment
We saw The Phantom of the Opera and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The theatre is themed and the cast were incredible. We had front row seats and felt we were part of the scene. It is a must for anyone staying at The Venetian.
We enjoyed the Casino very much for first time gamblers. The staff were very helpful and made us feel comfortable being novices. The casino got busy quite late but was bustling most of the day. The waitresses were most efficient and even remembered our orders throughout our stay.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to take a Gondola ride but thought the attention to detail of the canals were fabulous, having visited Venice ourselves. The scale of it was very impressive.
During our stay we rented a car from the main lobby to visit The Hoover Dam. The lady doing the paperwork wasn’t particularly helpful or friendly (she was at the end of her shift) but the staff delivering the cars were great. Pick-up and drop-off process was very easy and well thought out.
There were a good range of shops for jewellery, clothing and shoes but were all more expensive than we imagined they would be. We didn’t feel there were any particular bargains to be had, but the merchandise was generally of a high quality.

Room Tip: Rooms on the strip side of the tower may be a little noisy when the Volcano erupts at The Mirage, bu...

“Best Days Long Gone”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This used to be a beautiful hotel. Those days are gone. Rooms are worn, tired, dirty, malfunctioning. Casino is dated, boring. Restaurants are still good though but this is my last of many stays here. Food crumbs on the suite floor. 2rooms with no hot water. Room decor is literally ragged. Go to the Wynn.

“Great Place to Stay..Don't look anywhere Else!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Enjoyed our stay while attending the NADA conference. Great place. Plenty of restaurant choices. Plenty of Shows. We didn't even have to leave the Ventian, Plazzo Plaza. It was great. Rooms were clean, bathrooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Highly recommend it to families and couples alike.
