“Wonderful stay....but drop that "resort fee"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed here 3 nights last week. The hotel puts all others in Las Vegas to shame when it comes to the beauty of the public spaces. Every where you look you see beautiful art and soaring open spaces. The design of both the interior and exterior of the building is without compare. The check in process was quick and painless....although I could see that during busy times it would be confusing because there is no queue, you just line up behind a desk clerk and hope your line moves as fast as other lines. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. The bathroom is large and functional. The bedding very comfortable. My only real issue is the silly "resort fee" that is tacked on to room rate. It only covers using WiFi, the pool and the gym. Most other hotels give you those items as part of the the room rate, and it seems like you're being "nickels and dimed" by having this carved out and tacked on to your final bill. Too bad because I was so impressed with all other aspects of the Aria.

“Horrible Buffet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I am never going to the buffet at Aria again. There was bacon in a spinach salad and no listing of ingredients. Staff behaved as though they were annoyed by questions about ingredients of unlabeled items. I was grossed out and my complaint was met with indifference. I circled the buffet and came out with an empty plate. Not fair to vegetarian or vegan guests. The staff was rude and unaccommodating.

“I'd rather sleep at the airport.”

I'm typing this from the aria. Everything is rediculously overpricd. I've stayed at nearly every strip property and this ranks near the bottom. The dealers are rude, even though the tables at night are mostly 50 a hand and up! I'll be back at MGM grand again next time, I wish I never strayed. I refuse to give this property another dime!

“Nice hotel -- Don't rent from Avis counter at the hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We rented a car at the Avis counter at the Aria Resort and Casino to drive to the Grand Canyon and were forced to wash the dust off of the car before it was returned it or pay $75. When I questioned the policy I was told they have no way to wash the cars at the resort and if they did not make us do it they would have to pay the Avis staff at the airport to come and get the car and wash it. The hotel was nice. However, the housekeeping could be better. You could write your name in the dust on the fabric headboard. The casino on the first floor was extremely smoky. So, you had to endure cigarette (or worse cigar) smoke to get to the guest elevators or from the elevators to the outside.

Room Tip: We were on the 20th floor away from the elevators. View was nice.

“High Tech rooms but not our vibe.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We decided to try Aria for a change of pace. The service was wonderful, the rooms are high tech, new and clean. We did not have to hike a mile to get from the elevators to our room. The location of the hotel is recessed from the street so even though we had a cityscape room, there wasn't the view we have become accustomed to. The 25th floor was high enough that the changing colored lights below did not bother us. The casino is smaller than others we have been in and we ended up taking the tram (a great bonus) from Aria to Bellagio to do our gambling. The buffet is expensive and does not offer a great variety of items--believe you are paying for the huge mound of king crab legs. The desserts were wonderful though. We were disappointed with the Jean George Steakhouse. The wait staff spent a lot of time behind our table goofing around and not acting very professionally. The food was only mediocre--we enjoyed a better steak dinner at the hotel close by Aria. Crystals shopping mall beside Aria is terrific--high end designers all in one location. In the end, I would say there is nothing really wrong with Aria--it just doesn't have the energy as our usual Vegas hotel.
