I just finished a week-long stay at the Aria in one of their Sky Suites on the 54th floor, 54-029 to be precise. You have a separate check-in area from the rest of the guests near the elevators for the suites and you need to tell your driver that you are staying at the suites as there is also a different entrance. The view I had overlooked the western horizon and the views are spectacular. The rooms are not over the top opulent in a good way, however they have everything you would want and more. You enter the room into a living room type area with a large screen television. plenty of seating and a half bath. There is also a refrigerator (no freezer). But what will hit you immediately is how different the room is from other rooms in the area. The building is LEED certified, basically meaning that it is very green. For example, everything is electronic, from opening the curtains, controlling the temperature, the lights and the television. It is all on a control panel that you can control from your bed or other parts of the room. when you leave, you push one button and all electrical items in the room shut down, the curtains automatically close and the service light will come on to let the staff know that your room is ready to be cleaned.
The bedroom is spacious with plenty of drawer space (closets are in the bathroom). The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is large, with a separate whirlpool tub, shower built for 4 (up to you what you do with it) and two sinks. The toilet, which I would normally not mention, has certain benefits attached to it, and I will leave it at that, and the seats are warmed.
Benefits: There is always food and drink available without charge to suite guests, but it is a little tricky to find. It is located behind a wall in the sitting area near the Sky Suite check-in desk. The elevators to the suites have 24 hour guards.
The hotel itself has terrific restaurants, gambling, better than average shops and you must visit the sweets shop. It is also very conveniently located near Crystals shopping plaza filled with high-end shops and a CVS across the street. If you are a convention goer, this hotel was designed with the conventioneer in mind. Walks are not long. In that sense, the hotel is more vertical than horizontal which makes for a better convention experience.
My only complaint is that I wish the hotel had more no smoking areas, including a no smoking lounge. If they had one, I could not find it and as with most casinos in Vegas, smoking is prevalent. I think they also inject some sort of aroma into the air which, if it was not for the addition of the smoke, might be pleasant, but instead it combines into a somewhat unpleasant small that some may find it at worst annoying.
Overall, a great stay at a great location.
Room Tip: I prefer western views on a high floor. If the Sky Suites are reasonably more than a regular room...
