I know this is stating the obvious but this hotel is MASSIVE! We were there for 3 nights, and only discovered the multiple swimming pools on our last day! The room was fine, a little bit shabby around the edges. Also the hotel is positioned right at the end of the strip, so to get to the Bellagio, Paris or Venetian you have to walk through all the people selling you stuff from Helicopter rides to prostitutes.
Although the room was cheap (compared to any other hotels we stayed in in the states), they get their money from you in other ways! No fridge in the room, no coffee machine. There is a vending machine on each floor charging $3 for a Coke. And the cost of Wi-Fi!? Are they having a laugh? We stayed in all sorts of little independent places on our travels and wi-fi pretty much came as standard...not in Vegas! The restaurants in the hotel are all pretty pricey. You think you're doing OK by ordering a burger, and then see how much the fries cost as a side! Having said that, if you want cheap eats, it does have a food court type thing (MacDonalds, Chinese, sandwiches etc) but being the muppets we are, we didnt' discover it until our last day! Doh!
There is a very good reason to stay at the MGM .... The Cirque du Soleil show Ka is AMAZING and you get 40% off if you stay at the hotel. It really was amazing. I am sure it is the same story at any of the other hotels with a decent show, but Ka is a must see!
Also, wasn't very happy about the lions. I know they don't live in there or anything, but it just felt a bit urgh. Don't know why, sure they're very happy, but I am not a big fan of zoos any way.
As far as the casino is concerned....remember nobody leaves Vegas a winner baby! The MGM Casion is massive, and a good laugh. The bars are all over-priced! But sit at a machine or a table for long enough and you'll get given a drink.
