I've been visiting Las Vegas for years and have always wanted to stay at the Bellagio. As I was travelling with my partner I took the plunge as I was looking for a very upmarket "last night". I was sadly disappointed.
Whilst the hotel itself is very grand and imposing, with the most delightful lobby and public areas, the room was extremely disappointing, although far from being a bargain.
Reception staff were polite and courteous, if perhaps a little aloof, and we were assigned a room in the Spa Tower (which is at the back of the hotel). Although enquiring whether we could have anything overlooking the fountains (I appreciate that this would most definitely be an upgrade situation) it was pretty clear that nothing was going to be offered, either on a complimentary or paid basis, in spite of their being a low occupancy level.
It was a long way to the lifts and whilst I would have to say that room was clean and comfortable, it was relatively small and gloomy, with a less than impressive view towards the freeway. For the price paid, I expected a significantly higher quality and my expectations built over the years, came crashing down.
It was disappointing to learn that the outdoor pool and jacuzzi had closed at 16:00 and if we wanted to use the hot tub in the spa, this would be an additional $40 per person. I felt this was outrageous.
Although the stay was comfortable, I will not be likely to return to the Bellagio on a future visit or to recommend it
