Traveling with spouse and sister. Decided to not stay on the strip and remembered staying at hotel near a park. Thought it might be the same hotel, but the area has changed so much. The location seemed to be ok at first until the gps directed to enter from Main Street, which is impossible. We drove down Main until we could find a cross street to get us back to the hotel. We found there is a very large homeless community nearby. When we did find the correct entrance, we found the staff to be friendly. There appears to be two sections to the hotel. The main building attached to the lobby and a secondary
building located a fair distance from the lobby (across the parking lot near a pool). The room was ok, but not great (still ok with us since it was not expensive). The outside noise level was up all night, preventing uninterrupted sleep. Still no great deal. But, when we tried to shower in the morning, there was no hot water! Unfortunately, this was discovered about a minute into a shower by one of our party. The lady at the desk was very nice, but couldn't help. No maintenance staff was available. Sounded like no hot water was an ongoing problem, since she said maintenance usually tells the patron "to run the hot water faucet in the tub for a couple of minutes to get the water from the other end of the building" and that the problem happens when they have just a few guests. Running the hot water tap did not work, thus preventing us from showering before continuing our travels.
We were wondering if the guests were so few, why spread us out between the two buildings. Why not keep everyone in the main building, wouldn't that help resolve part of the water issue and make housekeeping's job easier confining the job to one structure? Also, it would have been nice to have been offered a hot shower in a room that did have hot water. We're sure the main building had no issue with no hot water.
We have faith in Best Western as a chain and am a member of the rewards program, but won't stay at the Main Street Inn on our next visit nor recommend it.
