This was my fifth trip to Vegas and having not stayed at Palazzo before we thought we would give it a go as we had loved visiting the property on last trip. We had such a wonderful stay at the Encore only 2 years before so it had a lot to live up to.
When I checked-in they didnt have any smoking rooms in Palazzo but had availability in the Venetian. I was told they would try to get me a room in the Palazzo from the next day (7 nights in total). I wasnt very happy with this as I had specfically booked via their own website in order to try to minimise the risk of this happening. We made the walk from Palazzo reception to the Venetian guest suites (luggage would be brought over later). The rooms at the Venetian were very similar to the Palazzo and we ended up staying the one night. See my other review for Venetian
We went to the Palazzo reception the next day at 10am and as promised they had a smoking room available and were in the process of cleaning it. We were apologised to and told they had upgraded us to a strip view room. We went off shopping and our luggage was brought over to our new rooms whilst we were away.
I really like the layout of the rooms at Palazzo (compared to Encore). The sitting area is far more usable and the rooms look very large. The actual quality of the room cleaning and the furniture was better at the Encore. I also enjoyed having the wi-fi available throughout the property as my wife and I would message/talk to each other and to family back home over the internet (to keep our international roaming charges down).
Room - Very nice, looks very modern and very spacious with seperate sitting area. The bed was very comfortable and the remote control for the drapes was cool (a trend among better hotels). In total there were three flat screen TV's and there was quite a few choices of HD channels (42" in the bedroom, 32" in the sitting area and a small one in the bathroom). Bathroom was nice with two sinks and seperate glass enclosed shower (could do with more water pressure). There was also a seperate vanity unit with hair dryer.
View - We had a wonderful view of the strip and the Treasure Island hotel from our window and looking down we could see the pools. At night the view came alive and I spent a lot time looking out of the window.
Casino - Really enjoyed spending time in the casino as it was very spacious and the cocktail service was usually quite good (seemed to get better after 5pm).
Restaurants
Bouchon (Venetian) for breakfast and it was nice but it was bit of an anti-climax. I will try Morels next time.
Grand Lux Cafe - for breakfast. We ordered from the menu (not buffet) and were very impressed with the speed and quality of the food. The red velvet pancakes were out of this world!!
Sushisamba - My wife really enjoyed the sushi and we liked some of the different roll combinations
Tao (Venetian) - This was the most dissapointing meal of our whole trip, PF changs makes better chinese food and sushisamba has better sushi rolls. I'm not sure I would come back to this restaurant as there are better asian choices in the Wynn (Okado and Wing Lei are fantastic)
Nightlife - We went to Tao nightclub for the evening and it was very nice and the music was great, dance floor gets very busy (we had a great time re-living our youth)
Location - If you look for signs to the Sands bridge this will get you over to the Wynn and then another bridge for Fashion Show Mall. Walgreens is very conveniently located at the outside of the Palazzo for all your pharmacy/drink/snacks/gifts.
Ambience - Out of the two properties I prefered the ambience of the Palazzo, a little quieter and just seemed a bit plusher
