“the gold standard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

As far as I am concerned the Las Vegas Mandarin Oriental is the gold standard for quality and service in Las Vegas.

As well, as it's not priced as high as MO generally is in other places, due to the competition in Las Vegas, it's also an attractive value proposition.

Having stayed with Mandarin Oriental in New York, Singapore, Las Vegas and Munich, I have to give high (highest) marks for the Las Vegas property, and I think it's certainly the best hotel in Las Vegas itself.

Service standards are second to none, and the quality of food, and room are top notch. The attendants in the spa are on the ball and there to help you in any way possible, to the point of you wanting to help them back for being so helpful.

Beds are super comfortable, drapes are controlled by switches on the walls, along with touch screen bedside units (which also control temperature and everything else you can imagine).

Rooms are nicely appointed, if I were to criticize anything it's that the modern architecture results in some oddball dimensions in some of the rooms, but it's very minor. High definition TV sets have great fidelity, service is quick and careful, it's really the closest you can get to being in Asia with Asian standards for service without flying over the pacific.

The spa is welcoming and beautiful as well.

I even remember the last time I stayed here, some years ago, where I gave them some clothes for dry cleaning and they came back in 2 hours instead of the next day. And I wasn't even asking for expedited service.

I can only highly recommend MO Las Vegas, they know how to run a hotel. It's the one place you can go to in Las Vegas where you don't feel like you're one more element of the herd being ushered through the vast machine that are the big casino hotels.

“Almost Perfect...with a few KINKS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I had stayed there for my birthday, and everything was simply perfect! The room itself was grand and I loved the bath tub arrangement! They even had a hair straightener for those girls who can't imagine going out in the dry heat with messy hair. The small details of the hotel was perfect up to setting me us up with a great Birthday Surprise and a note. I know it's a business but small things like a note for my birthday I appreciate and the cupcake was delicious! I was really happy that I got to stay at the Mandarin for my birthday. I always have used them for various occasions including business and leisure, never disappointed.

Make sure to talk to the Concierge. They are a life saver! The concierge got us into the hottest clubs and restaurants. With our names on the VIP list it was a breeze to attend those oh so impossible clubs without that much hassle. I think we just were tired and not sure what was going on with the list, but once we got the hang of it we just slipped through the line and the damn entrance fee. It was nice to get in without having to really pay for entrance, more for other spending I say!

I also enjoyed the NO CASINO atmosphere. For one with major allergies and health problems it was nice change. The cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel itself was just great. The smokeless air was a great change from the other hotels. With its location so close to the mall while it was FNO I enjoyed the few little parties it was hosting in the stores. It was a blessing to stay there.

My friends and I enjoyed the pool as well. It was nice to dip in the clean pool with excellent service. We ate by the poolside and honestly I think we could have stayed there all day and night. The food was great, the service was just spectacular. Nothing bad comes out.

Honestly without the whole incident of my being stuck in the elevator...the stay was just perfect. The elevator was occupied by a few security people who didn't mention they were testing...and I got stuck in there for over 10 minutes. That was horrifying. Must say probably a one time thing but I would have appreciated a heads up for the testing. And since they didn't really follow through with my getting stuck issue that was a kink in my service factor for them.

Overall I guess its a great place to stay. I would go back yes, but next time I would like to avoid getting stuck in the elevator! Oh yeah ask for their car service it's complimentary I think?

Room Tip: Ask for the north view I think it had better views

“Loved the tranquility”

In a city as hectic as Las Vegas, the Mandarin Oriental is a paradise. Of course that depends on what you are looking for. This hotel has no casino, so if you love to be where the game action is then maybe you will not like this place. For us it was perfect. Our room was very ample, the bathroom was the best part. The service is impeccable since your arrival. We had some reservations arranged, but for the ones we needed assistance the concierge was of great help. Had dinner at Twist, had bad luck with an unknown food allergy but up to that moment the food had been great. No buffet breakfast but a good menu. Tried to make reservations for the spa on 3 occasions and they were always full, so book ahead of time. It is in the middle of the Strip so it was easy to walk to any hotel in the Strip. The only problem we had was that the temperature in the room did not get cold enough and at night it could get too stuffy. The technician came to assist but did not seem to be able to fix this issue. They left a ventilator and it worked for the nights. In general we had a wonderful time here, would repeat it.

“Exquisite experience on the strip - amazing!”

This property is so soothing and relaxing it is hard to believe that you are in Las Vegas. From check-in at the Sky Lobby (unbelievable view) to your comfortable room with easy to use high tech service to the marvelous restaurants - you will be amazed! There are so many beautiful touches throughout this hotel - live flowers everywhere and the scent that permeates the property will relax you instantly. The stafff is attentive, courteous and helpful. Ordering room service was a pleasure - unlike any hotel experience I have had - quick too! I stayed in the City Scape room - fabulous views! The bathtub is large and deep and bath salts to die for are provided. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Don't worry about this property not having a casino - there a many right outside your door. This hotel is the perfect place to come back to and relax and sooth yourself - try the in-room yoga!

Room Tip: City Scape rooms on the higher levels will give you a great view of the strip!

“Oriental Tranquility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The hotel has a major advantage, no casino! So no route marches through acres of gaming tables. Restrained elegance, nothing over the top. Excellent service, staff ready to go the extra mile. The tone was set on arrival - we had arranged for the hotel to send a car to the airport for us, the driver called ahead and a charming Receptionist met us in the entrance lobby, and showed us straight to our room without even going to the check-in desk. Highly recommended.
