I went here for a bachelor party last year and loved it! It was my first time in Vegas and I was hooked on going back ever since, and I think this hotel is a big reason why.
I thought the place as a whole was clean and nice. Now as for the rooms my friends stayed in a basic room and it was like a motel 6. It had the basic white tub/shower combo and basic beds, carpet, and tv. I on the other hand had a last minute issue and had to go from 2 people in my room to just me and they were out of the basic 1 bed so I was put in the deluxe tower with a king size bed. Now this is what Vegas is should be to me. Faux finish on the walls, tiled bathroom, tub and shower sep. and both large, and a flat screen tv. My room was almost twice the size of my friends too. So as for the rooms its hit or miss I guess.
The casino was tiny compared to other, but I am not sure I would have wanted something that big when we had things to do besides gambling. One plus for the casino is that it is connected to mandalay bay's casino so it felt bigger than it really was.
The food was great too. I liked the food court they had on the 2nd floor that always seem to have a pizza place open right when I needed it to end my night. The steakhouse was a little pricey since I am a school teacher, but they had a great deal for a 6 oz steak, side, app, and red velvet cupcake for $40, so that was hard to beat. Finally the buffet was good for breakfast after long nights, but I hear most buffets are that good for the same price. I really did like the variety though at this buffet.
I am from Florida so I didn't use the pool, but it looked fine to me.
The clubs and bars were kind of small and not the coolest place on the strip, but we were low key guys and they worked great for us.
The only real negative was the location. They say its in the strip, but the strip appears to end at excalibur. So we would get to excalibur and have to turn left to get on what you would think of as the "the strip". That made for a lot of extra walking in a town already spread out on the strip. There is a shuttle but it goes to mandalay bay and excalibur, so its slow and can get crowded so you might as well just walk the 200 yards or so.
Overall bad location if you want go walk and site see like we did, but good rooms and not too big or loud in the casinos and bar. I would recommend it if you are looking for a really cheap hotel that still has that Vegas feel!
