I usually stay at the Motel 6 chain while traveling across country for one reason: clean no frills no surprises (price or otherwise).
I found the Motel 6 in Elko, NV to be a little overpriced for the Motel 6 line but i was REALLY exhausted so I decided to pay more than I usually would for a no frills motel.
The rooom was o.k. but nothing to recommend paying about $10 more a night than one would usually pay for a motel 6. It hadn't been recently renovated, the linens were clean but the room itself seemed shabb and the carpet seemed dirty like it had ground in dirt. I felt uncomfortable about crossing the carpet in bare feet and kept my socks on. I was right, the carpet was NASTY, the socks turned black on the bottoms in no time flat!
It was cold when I went in and had the older style heating system. I turned the heat up but it took a good 2 hours before the room got anywhere near warm which made it difficult to sleep although I was exhausted.
The bathroom linens were clean, the shower warm but the water didn't seem to get really hot (or maybe that was just my impression because the room was so cold).
I can't really recommend the overpriced Motel 6 in Elko, NV
