The entire motel smelled of stale cigarette odor, including the non-smoking floor and our non-smoking room.

Seems like they know Kearney is in the middle of no-where -
and that you will more than like-ly not be back,
that's the level of service and the condition of the hotel.
Price was high for what you get -
I guess Kearney hotels get filled up because of their location,
on I-80 between nothing and nothing.

In the future I will plan trips so we don't get stuck in Kearney again.

My family and I just returned from Kearney, Nebraska on May 9th, where our son just recently graduated from college. We made reservations at the local Super 8. We have stayed Super 8’s in the past and we were confident the place would be good to stay at. Though the rooms were OK, we had some “issues” in which you should be aware of.

The a/c in one room was broken and we had to leave the window open to get air. The parking lot outside our room was constantly busy and very noisy. So we decided to shut the window and listen to the loud motor on the a/c. Unfortunately the a/c was so loud; we had to turn it off. At/around 1:00 in the morning, there was a large group of individuals in the hallway making so much noise; we were at our breaking point! Just as we were about to open the hall door to complain to them, the lady said to her friends, “I’ll let you go to sleep know!”

The place offered wireless internet. My daughter was trying to finish a college term paper and decided to bring her laptop to finish the paper. She quickly discovered the wireless did not work and she literally had to sit in a specific manner just to get wireless from the Arby’s restaurant across from the parking lot. When I asked the front desk about this, they simply shrugged the concern off.

The next morning, before we all got up (only on 4 hours of sleep) I went to the front desk to complain about the a/c as well as the loud guests. I understand the a/c may have been unavoidable and the wireless INTERNET may be touchy, but the staff did a horrible job keeping the noise level down at 1:00 in the am. The lady behind the desk was not apologetic and really didn’t care if the a/c and the INTERNET did not work, let alone the guests were loud and obnoxious!

The room was clean and nice, typical for the Super 8 standards. I would recommend this place, but if you are a light sleeper or do not like uncooperative staff members, you may want to think twice before stopping in.
