The hotel was nicely located near the interstate and several restaurants. The reception area was cozy and clean, and the service was always friendly. The decor is sort of country-themed.
I was in Kearney to coach a volleyball team camp, so I had 9 players and many of their parents also coming to the hotel. We arrived a little before noon, and that's obviously before normal check-in hours, but they worked hard to get us a few rooms so the girls could change etc. before we had to go play.
The pool area looked very welcoming and the hot tub was exceptionally big, compared to most hotels, but after the very long day coaching and finally eating dinner very late, I was too tired to try the pool. However, the area is open for everyone until 10:00 and for adults until 12:00, which I thought was very cool.
I was able to get to my room before we left for the tournament, just to drop my things off. When I opened the door, I noticed it felt damp in the room, so I turned the air up a bit in an effort to dry out the room. When I returned almost 12 hours later, there was no change, other than now it was cold and damp. =( That was the biggest disappointment overall, I think. As I tried to sleep I just felt like I was sleeping outside and had dew on me or something, and I slept very poorly.
The rest of the room was adequate, but nothing special. The decor was fine, but nothing new or especially noticeable. There was a flat screen t.v. but no channel guide (at least not where I easily found it) and changing channels took a few seconds which was frustrating.
There was a small fridge and microwave, but it was stacked on top of the built-in dresser which the t.v. was on, too. It seemed out of place and cramped, but the fridge worked. I didn't use the microwave.
The sink area was outside the toilet area, which is nice. The shower was clean, but tiled with somewhat old-looking tiles. The water pressure was AMAZINGLY good. The shower head was not special, but because there was so much pressure it felt a little like a massage!
The breakfast was very carb-y. A waffle maker, biscuits and gravy, donuts, bagels, muffins, etc. were all available, but no eggs or any other meat. There was milk and yogurt as well. I didn't eat anything but some milk and a little fresh fruit, which was good. They ran out of coffee by 8:00, which was incredibly disappointing for me.
Overall it was a nice enough place except for the damp room. All my players said they slept great though, so it was very possibly just my room for some reason (it was not by the pool or anything).
