“A good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

It was quiet, clean, reasonably priced, and the beds were the most comfortable hotel beds we can remember (too many hotels think that a concrete slab is an adequate bed). The pool was very nice...there were full-length lawn chairs to lie on in the sun.

Food-wise, the complimentary breakfast was limited...either there WAS no hot food, or we missed it (we were there toward the end of the breakfast period). We had hard-boiled eggs, cereal, pastries, and bagels and were satisfied, if not impressed. That said, there's a Country Kitchen restaurant about 20 steps from the hotel, and it served up some fine food at a reasonable price (we arrived on "wing night" and had Buffalo-style wings for 35 cents each.

There was a 'fridge and microwave in the room, but both are stashed in the room's entertainment center...with no ventilation for the refrigerator, it was actually a little warm inside when we arrived, but it cooled off nicely when we left the door to the entertainment center open to allow some airflow.

The hotel is old-ish and is starting to show its age, but it was more than simply "adequate" for an overnight along the way.

“A little disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We had reserved the family suite. I really hate to complain about a suite, but this one, while quite spacious, wasn't very functional. For 2 bedrooms with 1 King and 2 Queens there was only 1 bathroom, 1 small sink, and only 1 mirror in the suite. There were no hanging hooks and no luggage racks. The kids room didn't have a nightstand or clock.
There was a window seat, but the only view was of the roof.
One area which could have been another bath was supposed to be a kitchenette, but had no stove and the tiny ref. was in the other room. No dishes in the cupboards either. So overall not very useful if you were wanting a kitchen.
The hot tub was lukewarm and the jets had minimal pressure. Our daughter left her goggles at the pool and when we returned a short while later they must have been stolen as they were not turned into the desk.
Come morning you couldn't sleep in as the suite is located above the breakfast room and lobby and became quite noisy.
On the bright side beds and pillows were comfortable and the closet was huge.
Dinner at the adjacent Country Kitchen restaurant was very good. Since the hotel breakfast was minimal we returned to Country Kitchen and all of our orders were wrong and we were overcharged.
It took us 15 min. to check out as the clerk would not get off the phone. We asked the night clerk for a garage in town as we needed to get a tire fixed. We could not find the place she recommeded and ended up going elsewhere.
Unfortunately, not many lodging or dining choices in the area.

“OK for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

Hotel in good location and rooms are fine, though the bed linen could do with either upgrading or replacing, and this did not help us to sleep.
Indoor pool and other amenities excellent, and buffet breakfast was adequate though the breakfast area was a little on the small side.
Overall if you are in Chadron not too bad a place to stay

“Nice town, nice staff, nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

Our stay in this hotel was because we were just passing through after having seen all the sights in South Dakota. We were so glad to stay in a nice small town like Chadron after all the summer crowds of Mt. Rushmore/Black Hills/Badlands. Our room was roomy, quiet and beds were comfortable. Because we had a pet, it was a nice amenity to have a door from our room directly out to the parking lot. That way we didn't have to walk our dog through the hotel halls on the way outside everytime she needed to do her business. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is just ok.
