“They were't up-front with us.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2007

We stayed at this motel one night on 7/17/07. Since their web site information didn't mention anything about being dog-friendly we made an assumption that dogs were not allowed, and booked a room. The no dog assumption was reinforced upon check-in when we saw a card on the check-in counter that said "sorry, no pets allowed."

As I was checking out the next morning the desk clerk took a phone call and I overheard the desk ckerk say "there will be an extra $10 charge for your dog." I asked the desk clerk about this and she simple said that the $10 is used to clean the carpets after the dog stays in the room.

Bottom line is that I would not have stayed in this motel had I known that a dog may have slept in my bed the night before. The way this went down upset me a great deal. I would never again stay at this motel nor would I recomment it to anyone.

  • Disliked — They allow dogs to stay in the rooms, but tell you about it up front.

“Poor service”

The rooms are average. We rented two (adjoining) rooms. We called the front desk numerous times for various items missing in our rooms. The front desk clerk was very slow at helping us. Our rug was damp in one room, so it was obvious that the rug had not completely dried after shampooing I presume. It was very unpleasant. Our first and final stay at this motel. The view was lovely of course. One other thing, the noise from traffic was disturbing late into the night.

“A Great Find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2007

We arrived in Polson not realizing what a vacation spot it is on the beautiful Flathead Lake. We found the Port Polson Inn had the room that we wanted (a smoking queen) with a great view of the lake and the mountains beyond at a great price, about $50 less that the fully booked but beautiful Best Western. The Port Polson Inn is an older place but has really been well maintained. Our room was fine with a very comfortable bed. A breakfast was included and it was very nice with virtually everything you'd want in an American-style Continental breakfast. I had a choice of coffee in a china mug or styrofoam cup, and the juice was available in a real juice glass. Refills were continually done. Really nice! Plus, the front desk staff was very nice and welcoming. For an older inn in a relatively small town, this one was GREAT!

“nice, friendly place, lake across the street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2007

My friends and I stayed at the Best Value Port Polson Inn for 2 nights. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and willing to talk about the area, there's a small kitchen where guests are served a decent light breakfast in the morning, and there's a small pool (which I didn't use).

Some of the rooms are inside and others face the street and lake.

The place is probably somewhere between "motel" and "hotel" on the scale of what you get for the price. I was pleased with the value and would recommend the place.

The location is decent for many of the activities in the region. Flathead Lake is right across the street, and there are boat rentals and the like available (though not from the Port Polson Inn). There's a supermarket down the street, and the (incredibly unique) Miracle of America Museum is maybe a half mile past the supermarket. The National Buffalo Range is about 30 minutes to the south and Glacier National Park is 60-90 minutes to the north. We also found an amazing horseback riding place about 30 minutes away.

“Great 'homey' place to stay”

This is a great place to stay in Polson. It is an older motel but is well kept and clean. It is pretty basic accomodations, but the bed was comfortable and you can't beat the view. My only complaint which couldn't be helped is the traffic noise. Bring your earplugs if traffic noise bothers you. Other than that, this place is a fine place to stay.
