I first stayed at the Jordan in the 1970s when it was a Best Western hotel. Built in 1907, the hotel has come down in the world a bit, but it is still a comfortable if somewhat shabby place to stay. The hotel contracts with the railroad for rail crews but does have rooms for tourists also. My room, 317, was large, with two beds, clean, and the air conditioning was much appreciated on a 95-degree day. The shower head didn't work however. Cost was $70. Because of the rail crews and oil field workers, the cafeteria is open 24 hours, a plus. The chief cook has been there for thirty years. Guests are offered a complimentary hot breakfast. I chose scrambled eggs and biscuits with gravy. It was excellent!
The property recently changed hands and the new general manager is gradually upgrading the rooms. Expect comfort but nothing fancy at this historic hotel.
